What a game by Bryce

Congratulations to Panthers QB Bryce Young who was in complete control of  the offense today with his 312 yd., 2 td, 0 turnover performance.

Bryce  showed today that he is capable, given time,  of developing to the point of becoming the N.F.L. Q.B. we thought he could be before the last N.F.L. draft.

Well now that you mention Sam. His new low performance today could serve as a cautionary moment to us about not getting too wrapped up in individual games for a young QB. He has at times this season looked like a promising possible franchise QB for them. Now look at how low he's sunk. Sounds a bit like a rerun of Taylor Heinicke from last year.

Let's see how Bryce and this offense perform the next two games. Hopefully we continue to move forward and move the ball well. But let's not kid ourselves. It is possible we see another step back to some degree.

It’s a cautionary tale all around. Crying bust too early is equally as silly as claiming they are the answer too early. I’ve been for waiting and seeing how he turns out. It’s ok for fans to get excited when he shows some promise though. We were just talking about how happy we would be with a TD or two. Well we got 4 so let’s just be happy and see what happens next week.

He looked great! Excited to see him grow even more. He clearly has a unique ability to show up big in comeback runs when things around him are at least functional.

That 2021 game vs Auburn. The kid is great in crunch time.  In a league where the point diff is usually one score or less that’s great attribute to have.

Admittedly didn't watch every play. Did BY answer the arm strength questions today or are we sure he still doesn't have an NFL arm?

Not really in terms of range, but after the first quarter or so his throws were tighter and he showed more anticipation. His TD throw to Chark was top-tier as well, best pro throw he has made IMO.

Just to be clear, did he show adequate arm strength? Has he dispelled the noodle arm title or no?

peep the clip above. That’s not a weak arm throw. Does it dispel it?  Depends on the person I guess.

He made another similar throw in this game and one last week as well in terms of placement on the boundary… all 3 very similar.  Throw to Chark was on the move tho.  They arent oohh ahh flashy things but those kind throws on the reg can stack wins.

At the risk of being brigaded by the Bryce Knights for simply commenting on what is on the film, he still has to put a lot of body into it those throws to get the ball 30 yards down field with moderate zip. It was excellent placement, one of his best so far, but doesn't say much about pushing the ball truly down or across the field since this was hash to near sideline.

Again, this is just responding to the direct question about arm. Lot of other positives overall after the first quarter and that TD to Chark was truly a sight.

The problem is we were spoiled by Cam who had a howitzer and was one of the best athletes to ever play the position. By that standard, lot of ppl who are panthers fans will never be happy with BYs arm. But to specially answer your question, yes he has all the arm needed to make NFL throws and showed it today. You’re never going to get the 55 yard off balance wrist flick from him…. And that’s ok.

    • I think it will be hard to not go edge in the second if we go QB first. Say you have Starks, one of Bond/Egbuka, and maybe one Edge (don't have a name to throw out that is end of 1st round projected and may slide)... do you still go Starks? Just curious. I haven't looked into starks much, as I've been focused on QB, WR, and DL prospects.
