So panthers suffer because of Richardon?

I don't even care what Peppers is asking.

The point is the article is leading us to believe the proving a point is more important than keeping talent or spending money to improve this team. That is wrong. Very Wrong.

I respect your point of view but read that article in a completely different light. Yes, Jerry is saying he won't go on a spending spree this year but if he is truely looking at doing what's best for the NFL, that also means he won't bottom out either.

The Steelers have already announced that even though there will probably be no salary cap (or bottom) they are going to operate as if there was one as it would have been laid out in the previous CBA. Knowing how the Rooney's, Bob Kraft and Jerry Richardson are close friends with in the owners group, I would say look for the Panthers to operate the same.

If this is what he does then I have no problem with what he is doing as he is correct in that it is the best option for the team in the long run.

If he operates as you, and others, are suggesting and bottoms out his player salaries, then I agree with you and that would be wrong.

Yeah..But whats gets me is that this could have been avoided if we would have traded peppers last year.

We tried to trade him last year. Were you living under a rock.

People talk about the last two years like we did not try to sign him after 2007 or trade him after 2008.

Peppers was offered a contract and turned it down. We attempted to trade him after he signed the tag, but there were no takers.

how can he be worth 18 million one year but not 20 million the next?

do we even have a plan to replace him? also what says he has a down year anyway? is that because all our vaginas are hurt because he wanted to play somewhere else.

funny how peppers is the bad guy in all of this but, jerry basically by his actions is saying that winning with our hard earn money isnt as important as setting an example for the nfl.

also if he doesnt pay peppers , whose to say he will pay other guys huge contracts, beason dwill, td? what happens when these guys contracts come up?

also to the guy who says players shouldnt make as much as owner, that is true. no player does. owners are worth way more than 20 -30 millions.

We had no choice last year. We had no alternate plan. We had not yet picked Brown in the draft.

With Johnson a year older....combined with Brown and Brayton....not to mention we will prob sign a FA....we will be OK without Pep.

I would rather see him stay. But he is not worth the money that he wants.

Actually truth be told that that there probably wasn't a great trade offer out there last year and there probably isn't one this year because so many teams are scared to make the trade and the organization knows this. Furthermore, many expect that the Panthers would not pay him more then what they are offering and therefore allowing Peppers to hit Free Agency which is why the teams are not offering anything to the Panthers.

Again, Fox, Hurney, and Richardson are not idiots people.

aaron kampman is the same as peppers?

No. But if you look at them in every facet of the game from team player, momentum shifting ability, playmaking ability, leadership, etc. they get to about the same level overall. Its true you cannot deny Peppers freakish athletic ability, but he is questionable in some areas (reliability, consistency, leadership).

People can try and rationalize this situation all they want, but Richardson should at least go to the table and give it an effort. Anything less is not necessarily good business. Put all the cards on the table, and then make decisions from there.

Zero communication is bush league. To me it shows a lack of respect to Pep, the rest of the team, and to the fans. Effective PR could greatly help the situation.

Lack of respect to Pep??? You mean like saying publicly you dont want to hurt the franchise? then publicily saying you want out of town, saying only 4 teams you will play for, then not signing the tender to make it impossible for the Panthers to work out a trade, and finally not working out a reasonable one yourself? You mean that kind of lack of respect?

I am not saying Richardson is right but both parties are at fault the franchise is doing this AGAIN!!

The part that bugs me a bit is how decisions are possibly being made due to JR's relationship with the NFL over the Panthers. I want to see some kind of sign and trade deal made.
