3 Reasons why we can't let Peppers leave.

I know, I know, last week I was all "Let him walk" but after thinking about this, UNLESS we get a solid D lineman in return, we must not let him walk.

1. Even with him our Pass Rush sucks. We're 23rd in sacks, which isn't terrible, but since he had 10.5 of those 31...yeah..

2.He is to versatile. Show me another DE in the NFL that can get out and defend the flats like this guy. I honestly believe (if he had a coach with a creative bone in his body) Pep could play Linebacker.

3.Who are we going to get in return?? Like I said, unless its another DE that is just as good, whats the point? You think the Eagles are giving up Kolb or Mcnab for Peppers? They might give up Vick, but he sucks balls. There is no way another team can match him talent wise..

this has to be the main reason right here.i like what brown and cj can do but we just dont know yet about those 2.plus cj needs to stay healthy all year, and he couldnt do that with a limited role on our d.

1. He single handedly is our D-Line.

3. We could get something out of him with a trade.

No it's not. You don't pay someone over 1.3 mil per game when they only give you 10.5 sacks. That's ridiculous. You'd be paying him more than Peyton Manning's new contract (most likely), and who do you think benefits their respective team more? If we franchise him, there will be plenty less teams who would go after him simply because they wouldn't want to pick up that contract.

As for your reasons, while valid, they don't make Julius Peppers age any differently than any other human on the planet. He cannot be a Panther for the next 100 years and still be effective so the organization better have a plan to replace him in works at some point in time. And no matter when that time comes, this year or four year down the road, it will not be a perfect transition.

Pep is a beast. He is a disruptive force that has to be dealt with. You just can't look at the sacks as the sole stat to determine his value. Does Pro Bowl mean anything to you?

You mean the Pro Bowl that was only an extra 1.5 mil we had to pay him, wonder what it'd be next year? Imagine if we make playoffs! The only reason I would not be upset on if we tag him to keep him is if he played like he did at the end of the year, where he actually looked as if to have emotion. Though, after making it obvious once again that he wants out, I doubt that it would happen. Forcing players to play in places they don't want to never really turns out well.

I just feel our DL is average at best without Peppers... There aren't many DE in the league who can be game changers, and when you get them or that potential you hold on to them....

Mediocrity is not going to win you championships... that's where it seems our team is headed. Without peppers I can still see us being a playoff team next year... but superbowl contender... thats a stretch... we will see. I do not like the decision, but I believe he is as good as gone.

Peppers is a cancer to the team and pro bowl does not mean anything to me. Great players get snubbed every year from the pro bowl. For example, DeAngelo Williams last year had the greatest season as a running back and lead the league in everything but did not get elected to play in the pro bowl. Peppers is aging and he wants Matthew Stafford money. Winning doesn't just consist of throwing the best players on a team, it's much more complicated then that. We need all the right pieces to achieve our ultimate goal which is a Super Bowl championship. If having all the right pieces means getting rid of the malignant tumors, then so be it.

Hell, I agree with that. But the alternative is not pretty either. What's the lesser of two evils? That's why we should be hammering out a deal that will make him a Panther for the remainder of his career.
