Handling Young with kid gloves

I have been reading they have been basically giving Young a pass.  Handling him with an easy touch. Not holding him responsible for his play and mechanics.

Tabor is ready to start ripping an ass and putting pressure on Young to play up to his draft position. I wonder if Reich was being easy on Young and coddling him.

Obviously, there are many issues besides Young that plague the offense, but he is a big part of the problem.

His foot work is awfull and decision making is just as bad. Maybe they need to put more responsibility on him for this sh&t show.

There's definitely evidence.

Reich didn't want to coach him on footwork until this coming offseason. And there were some who reportedly thought Reich was babying him (sounded kinda like a Pete Carroll - Russell Wilson type situation).

I've said elsewhere I think Reich would have preferred not to have started him until next year. We've heard he wanted Derek Carr for this year.

    • I’m going with Nick Emmanwori as the pick right now. Charlie Campbell has him ranked 5th on his post combine big board and another safety is needed.
    • That is ridiculous on several levels. First of all you have to spend 90% of your cap space every year so the idea you can just not spend it every year is against the CBA. Secondly your job is to assemble the best team you can for the fans players and team. Not to save money for the owner.  Third many players who are considered great underperform while others like Luvu and Jackson have overperformed. What about a  great player like Derek Brown who was injured and missed all of last year. Was he a waste of money?? Sure pay DK a fools ransom and hope he stays healthy. He didn't even get 1000 yards last year which averages out to 60 yards a game or play all 16 games.  And lets be real, Jones and Watson aren't  great but they aren't being paid that much either. Real glad you aren't the GM.
    • Not necessarily, they very well could just be waiting on the players who will get cut in the coming weeks/months as cap casualties and wanting to have the cap room to be able to offer more than other teams (likely our best shot at finding immediate pass rushing help for next year at this point). Also wouldn't be the end of the world to try and roll some cap into next offseason to have more space to go after bigger FA's. That's a better move than signing guys who really won't help much more than whoever else we can get on minimum or rookie deals.
