We had an easy schedule last year and our QB play certainly got worse this year. We also traded away CMC and DJ Moore. We’ve also had a ton of OL injuries and our OL via Reich dropped off a cliff like the Colts did. We lost Shaq Thompson, Christensen and Corbett (basically) for the year. We lost Horn for most of the year as well. Look at the game where Horn didn’t play last year and Mike Evans killing us. The team last year was a more talented and healthier team. I said it often before this year started that we didn’t have any depth and that we were very healthy last year until the last week.

Do you want Andy Dalton as our long term QB? If not, we need to get clear of Young and we can’t until his play has convinced the team to move on. The drop in Young theory doesn’t matter. It’s over and Tepper still owns the team.

I want the best opportunity for this team to win. I don't care about where a player is drafted. If Dalton is the best chance for this team to win, then he needs to play until Bryce can beat him out. If Bryce can't beat him out, then that's a problem with Fitterer and Tepper and their evaluation and selection process. The same goes for every other position on the field.

The biggest problem in this organization right now is an egotistical owner who thinks he knows everything about football when all evidence points to the contrary. Smart owners and coaches realize once a player is drafted, they are a sunk cost. From that point on, they're just another player. The 49ers moved on from their high value QB pick because he wasn't better than Mr. Irrelevant.

Tepper is the problem with this organization. 5 years in and we are the worst franchise in professional sports. Bryce, Frank, Fitts, Rhule, the process. Tepper.has chosen them all.

The most productive the Panther offense has been was the 37-27 loss to Seattle. Oh yeah, Dalton played that game. Oh yeah, that was Week 3.

The Panthers and Bryce Young haven't come close to matching the relative success of that game, yet Bryce Young is still trotting out there every week. This leads me to ask a simple question:

Is it the goal of the Panthers to attempt to develop a QB with limited athletic and physical talent or, is it the goal of the team to win games. Because, if we're being honest and going back to the words of both John Fox and Ron Rivera, who gives the team the best opportunity to win?

Its about ‘developing Bryce’

Tepper could  give a poo about the fans.  The other  players.  The coaches

he wants his boy scout to  be  something he cant be    He doesn't have the physical tools

i go back to bill Parcells quote on young when asked about his outlier size

    ‘He better walk on water’

and as we see, there aint no water walking

I have opposed benching Bryce but frankly, we need to, if only to see what this team looks like with a different QB. We know what Bryce can do, but is he truly held back by a bad team or is he part of the problem?

I hear you. But we've already seen that. We know Dalton is better. Same oline same receivers same head coach who has been fired. Most points scored all season. And in hostile territory and one of the loudest stadiums in the league.

Benching Young only serves to show we've signaled he is toast. You give him at least half of next season to show anything. Of course the issue there is finding a quality head coaching candidate who will want to risk their first and possibly only shot at the gig on Bryce Young. We'll see.

Young is the ultimate coach’s kid that plays on your team. He’s either a baller and everyone loves him, or he is the reason why you haven’t won a game all season but coach can’t bench him bc of politics.

People think this is still honestly about developing Bryce? What development. The 5 plays that he is capable of that aren’t guaranteed interceptions were figured out after the first half in the Atlanta game. He physically is not up for the job.

Starting Andy would be akin to what it looked like when Wilks took over last season. Capable and promising. Bryce would never be able to take another snap again. Andy wins the Saints game by at least 2 scores and Sullivan is the most talked about player on Monday.

Anyone! Everyone should be auditioning now for the new coaching staff and hopefully front office crew. Playing Dalton and getting more out of anyone only helps next year. Bryce is so bad that his play effects everyone else. Playing Dalton just allows a decent backup level of play to see if any positives can be found.

There is no good master plan to convince someone who knows so little about football why his guy is complete ass. It just doesn't exist. The best hope of a decent next guy is 2025. Until then it's take anything better that you can get because the owner is a football idiot and any hope of him doing anything decent is a complete waste of time right now. Prepare for another year next year very similar to this year until he steps back and allows someone else to fire all the garbage he has hired.

Sorry, but anyone isn’t an answer. I still have yet to have one response that gave me a viable we want this guy to potentially be our go forward answer besides Mingo who has played a ton as a rookie. The OL blocking doesn’t need Dalton to review the replacement guys.

There is no good future reason to not fully vet Young so we can move on. Benching him does nothing helpful for our future.

We are 1-12 and we aren’t the 49ers. If Tepper is a problem then benching Young gives him ammo that he needs more coaching. The more we play him and he sucks the better chance it will finally hit home that we let Young sink the battleship in 2024 and we move on. We don’t have the draft capital, nor the GM, to turn us around for 2024, so tank that MFer and get some talent in here.

Some of you guys are delusional. Dalton beats the Saints by 2 scores? We lost 28-6. This team isn’t talented at all, especially on offense. Saints are 10th in scoring D and the Seahawks are 27th. We wouldn’t have score 28+.

Wilks did well but we had a much better team last year. Darnold isn’t good but he’s not a noodle arm and we had Shaq, Moore, Horn (until Tampa and we saw how that went), Corbett, and Christensen. Heck, Burns still cared too. Foreman was also better than Sanders for us.

We’ve got a few guys on D that I could see as long term talent, but the offense is dismal. Moton is likely our only talented maybe a few more years guy. Mingo is a who knows and Thielen is not a long term option. Iky is terrible and everyone just assumes he’ll be a great guard. Who knows.

It all depends on what you want to accomplish. If winning matters, Bryce needs to be on the bench. If getting the number 1 pick in 2025 matters, start Bryce, sign PJ Walker as his backup and a 3rd stringer from podunk U, and get some JV coach on a 1 year contract. It all depends on what you want.

Want to talk about nightmare fuel?  Here it is.

We start Bryce our remaining three games, because we wouldn't want to hurt his "development".  This means we learn nothing more about the guys we have surrounded him with.  If we don't change that variable, we learn nothing.  It isn't even a discussion.

But here's where it gets worse.

Next year, we're 10 games in and Bryce still looks like Bryce.  At that point, we know NOTHING about the players around him because we were determined to keep developing him this year.  So we make a change in 2024 for the last 7 games.

Suddenly, we become a middle of the pack team.  We stay close in games.  We win a few down the stretch against teams who are resting for the playoffs or whatever.  And we blow the top pick in the draft - a pick we still have - because we didn't know anything about these players.

That's really the only way we make this worse.  And we have fans who think it's a good idea.  I am terrified that we have staff who think it's a good idea.

Where do you get this from? He is here for at least next year and maybe the year after if Tepper is really stubborn. The idea he will continue to bust the rest of this year changes anything in that reality is fantasy. He will at best be competing and at worst be forced in as a start again next year. Playing the rest of this year changes nothing in that regard.

And yes anyone is the answer. It's a lot more than whatever you have convinced yourself of with Bryce playing the rest of the year. Getting something out of any of the line guys or WRs does matter. Is it slim? Sure but it's a lot more realistic than what you are stuck on.
