again he is the sole reason that the ST has looked 10x better on overage, dude can boom it down to the endzone, or high and give the coverage unit extra time to get down to meet the returner. but thats crossman's coaching, or so i have heard around these parts.

Lloyd is definitely worth the roster spot. So is Kasay. The way things are going it will be on Kasay's back to win it in the next few weeks. I can't think of anyone else I would want kicking the ball with the game on the line. We got the best of both worlds. A great kickoff specialist and a pro-bowl worthy field goal kicker who is ice with the game on the line. Even the kick in the Meadowlands was on track until the wind got a hold of it. I like where we are this year.

Lloyd seems pretty wild with his kickoffs sometimes though. I don't know how well he'd translate into a kicker. Keep in mind there are a dozen guys out there just like Lloyd, who can boom kickoffs into the stands all day long. The reason they aren't in the NFL too is because teams don't carry two kickers. We were desperate though since Kasey had regularly been near the bottom of the league in kickoffs. It was a good move, but don't get enamored by the guy (Lloyd) just because he has a strong leg. It doesn't mean he would be even an average FG kicker.

I don't think anyone read my first post, so I will reiterate.

Lloyd was a Kicker in college. He kicked field goals.

He was a candidate for the Lou Groza Award his senior year. (this is the award given to the best place kicker in college football each year).

He was an honorable mention All-American his senior year.

He was rated the 5th best place-kicker in the nation by The Sporting News his senior year.

I'm not saying any of this qualifies him to be a starting FG-kicker in the NFL, but it's not like he's never done it before. He has experience. He kicked a last second game winning 42-yd FG in the 2003 Sun Bowl to pull off the upset.
