Trade rumor: Peppers for Umenyiora

hmmm.. Interesting.

Peppers to a team out of our division(are we even playing nfc east next year?), that ridiculous contract out of our hands.. For a talented player who would probably thrive in our defense, and will be cheaper.. I'd take that deal if there was no way we could keep peppers.

I want to do everything we possibly can to keep him as he makes our entire defense better, while he may not be racking up 15 sacks, he's certainly creating pressure every play which forces bad throws and easy picks for our secondary. But if he had to go, this would be the ideal situation for me. Draft picks are overrated, i'd rather get a proven player such as osi than a 1st round pick that will cost just as much and it'll be an unproven player.

I mean i'll be the first to say that I love Julius Peppers but damn man, if he wants out let him gooo. He's a great talent and everything but I just think it's time for us to move on. lol yes i think we all would. but osi is a good player and getting anything for peppers would be great.

all in all, this seems like bs, but it's interesting to talk about.

and to rocknrolla, he will not become a UFA until the date comes. until that time we are free to extend him/franchise/etc. so he is still ours until that day comes. once he hits fa, he's no longer ours.

happens in hockey more often.. last year one team traded for another team's ufa like 5 days before fa began. it was basically just a "first dibs" kinda thing.

I'd love to have Osi on the team. He's not quite as talented as Pep but he's a hell of a DE and has a great motor. With him in the lineup I think our defense would experience very little drop-off at all. However, I believe we'd need to get at least a 4th round pick in addition to Pep. Also, this will probably never happen.
