Dude, I travel a LOT. I know points. I know how long they take to accumulate. In the long run, you're hurting yourself a lot more than you're hurting them. If I could spend $40 to become a gold customer with ANY chain, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Yeah, it may seem like it sucks right now, but in the long run you're probably going to be happier sticking with the Hilton and enjoying the benefits you get in non-special occasion stays.

Be cool, we all get pissed at the big corporations sometimes. Don't make any permanent decisions based on this experience without a comparable alternative in your pocket, ok?

The increase price may just give me enough points for the free night. Maybe I use that for the NFC champ game. I made those reseverations at the same time.

That's the spirit! Sometimes, you just have to let them make their money in the good times so they'll treat you right in the bad ones. What's $40 anyway? :)

You can stay with me and my wife, but I get to make up any stories I want about the experience if you do!

Dam nice and thanks. Your stories would have to be pretty imaginative to out do reality. I was thinking maybe a ride and back to the LaQuinta out on 77.

If you didn't book your free night at the time of booking, you aren't going to be able to change it either unless there are rooms available for a free night. Those are limited and go quickly.
