'Deadliest Catch' captain dies

All those guys live horrible lifestyles. No sleep, crazy stress levels, caffine through the roof, smoking around the clock. A cardiovascular nightmare.

This.

My old man kicked off right around the same age. Lived a similar lifestyle (not a fisherman, was a salesman instead, probably worse).

Sh!t takes a toll.

I don't know if I've ever had tears in my eyes about someone on tv before but watching last nights episode and then them playing Tuesday's Gone while showing footage for next weeks 2 hr episode saying goodbye to Phil got me.

yeah, that was pretty fukcing rough. My wife was balling, I was trying to pull off the macho this doesn't bother me thing until Jonathan was breaking down. That sent me a little over the edge.

Its different because it isn't just regular t.v. and it isn't some stupid ass reality t.v. show, its real people working for a living in what just so happens to be a very interesting job. Everyone of those guys would be out there with or without the cameras. To me that is why I find it so engrossing. Deadliest Catch is the only thing that comes on t.v. that I look forward to. Especially now that the abomination that became of LOST is gone.

I was able to choke 'em back. My fiancee totally lost it though. Can't blame her because I was close.

Fnn thing was that it was the After the Catch that really got to me when his childhood buddies were remembering and cracking wise on him.

It was probably the most light-hearted part of the show but it really got to me.

Watching those seas at the end made me really miss the ocean. I really want to go back to her. She is a mean bitch though.

Spoken like a true grizzled sea captain.

I've never seen an episode of this show in my life, but all of the recent talk makes me want to. Can I watch last night's episode without having seen the rest of them, or would I not get the full impact without knowing Phil's character?

You would not get Phil by just watching the "end".
