'Deadliest Catch' captain dies

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Discovery Channel says the captain of the "Deadliest Catch" fishing vessel Cornelia Marie has died.

Capt. Phil Harris suffered what his family described as a massive stroke on Jan. 29 while the boat was in port at St. Paul Island, Alaska.

Laid back? I'm surprised he didn't stroke out sooner. He got pissed at his two boys on the boat all the time. And he chain smoked like crazy.

Anyways, RIP Phil. He was my fav.

RIP Phil. He was a favorite of mine. All those guys live horrible lifestyles. No sleep, crazy stress levels, caffine through the roof, smoking around the clock. A cardiovascular nightmare. I wonder how much will be shown since it happened during Opie season?

It was only a matter of time. He was having multiple blood clots in his blood stream. Hemissed one season due to a clot passing through his lung and he survived when most don't. A pulmonary embolism is no joke. I'd guess that he had one travel to his brain causing the stroke.

Lived hard, but man, he was the prototypical "grizzled sea captain." Always enjoyed him on the show and it won't be the same without him.

That sucks he was great on the show. I feel bad for his sons. I wonder if they will stay and work on the boat. At least he died doing what he loved. He couldn't stand being away from that boat.

yeah i remember an episode where he watch a guy chaining the pots in rough whether so he watched him primed to respond if he fell in. He did and they saved him. Really a great show.
