17th highest rated QB ever, among other things.

I really enjoyed this article. Glad to see him get some respect.

I used to think Jake just threw up Gimmes, but this has been happening again and again for a while now....There has to be a method to this madness...lol...I don't know how they do it man

Keep 'em coming tho

Yeah, I thought the same thing. 17th all time is top 5% at least.

that makes culpepper top 2%, damn why did no one pick up the 9th best pass rated qb all time until near the end of the year. this proves its a bogus stat. so this list has him above elway, johnny U, and countless others that are head and shoulders above jake. pennington is top 6?? come on.

Agreed. Unless some here think that Mark Rypien and Trent Dilfer are better QB's than Dan Fouts and Dan Marino.

Also, Eli Manning and Jake Delhomme both have one Super Bowl appearance. Is there anyone that seriously believes Eli had a better superbowl than Jake did. Regardless of the outcome, Jake played his ass off in that Superbowl while Eli was ok in his one superbowl appearance.

Do you really think that either of those guys give a poo if they are better than Marino or not?

They have a ring and he doesn't, and I can pretty much bet you Marino would rather be a little less "good" and have that ring, than be an all time great and not have one.

Anyone who still hates Delhomme after comparing last year to this year is a total dumbass. No shortage of those around here though...

I don't see many people posting here who say they hate Jake, but I'm sure Fumbling Foster had NOTHING to do with us sucking last year either.

I'm not saying it's not a bogus stat. Just like power rankings. But 17th is not average when you consider how many QBs have played in the NFL.

Just to throw a kink in your chain. Jake is rated the second worse QB in the playoffs, next to Jackson. What'dya say to that?

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs2008/news/story?id=3798645

(They also rated our DB's second best and our Special Teams first, if that says anything.)

It says those rankings are stupid..though they were basing it off of regular season performances methinks.

He has the 3rd highest rating in post-season history. It is no secret he turns it up in the post-season.

Also, I don't think QB rating is a useless stat or anything. Though I think it's fair to qualify the stat to keep it in perspective.

Do you really think that either of those guys give a sh*t if they are better than Marino or not?

They have a ring and he doesn't, and I can pretty much bet you Marino would rather be a little less "good" and have that ring, than be an all time great and not have one.

I'm sure they would rather have Marino's money. The money he got for being so damn good.

Yeah like talent around the guy. The top 3 were/are all good, but they were surrounded by lots of offensive talent their entire careers. They might still all have good career ratings if they were on less offensively talented teams but likely not that high. Besides my having watched them play for years, Pennington's and Brady's top rankings tell me how good they really are though because other than 2007, Brady never had top weapons and Penny never had great weapons.

Yup. That's what I mean

Career passer rating is a good stat but not when used out of context. Guys like Elway started off pretty poor and steadily got better. His last year was a 93 ratig with 22 TDs and 10 Ints. His first year was a 54.9 with 7 TDs and 14 Ints. Career wise he is an 80.

Jake is at 85 this year and has never been below 80 for a season. What seriously separates them is that Elway had a few great years his last several years and 2 super bowls. If Jake wants to consider himself in the same category he has to come up big in the playoffs and win the big one. And then do it again next year. Then we can begin to make comparisons. Otherwise, not so much.
