Danica

All I know is that during the summer when my wife sets up a slip n' slide for the neighborhood kids, the fat kids always seem to go down the thing faster even if they don't (or can't) run as fast . Not sure how that relates to NASCAR, and I am no physics major but it came to mind and it may blow this weight theory to pieces.

(I may email my findings to NASCAR)

I remember the Robby Gordon comments on Danica. I posted something on it when he raised that stink. At the time, NASCAR had changed the rules to allow a driver to weigh up to 200 lbs without penalty (ie, Mark Martin would have to carry 50 lbs of extra weight if he weighed 150 lbs, Earnhardt Jr. would have to carry 30 extra lbs. if he weighed 170 lbs.) It's still an advantage for drivers who weigh less because the teams can distribute the weight lower in the vehicles, lowering the roll center, making for better handling.

was an irl discussion. in the irl they do have to add ballist to make the car + driver the same for all compeditors. his argument was that it was not fair to let them put the ballist lower in the car than the driver. it does make sence from a physics standpoint, and likely is a much bigger deal in a car that is much more sensitive to wieght than the cot (lets be honest 50 pounds in a COT is less % than an IRL car).

the only time strength will be a factor: steering pump goes out. then lets see how long she can drive it. newman i think won a race even though the pump failed, yet he was about to pass out after the race from the effort it required. newman is one strong sob too so for him to be wiped out after losing the power steering is something else. most everyone else fades fast when the pump goes (kasey had it happen and lost laps b/c of it).

people in nascar are always looking for an advantage anywhere they can get it.. It might be a crew cheif thats in the grey area of the rules or in danicas case using her weight ( or lack of) I say more power to her and if it helps you go faster then so be it... its not like shes breaking a rule.

I remember hearing a few years back about someone winning a race, then at the weigh in after the race was found to be 200 lbs overwieght. They opened up the hood and found Jr Johnson under there with a flashlight.

if JJ was under the hood they would have been alittle more than 200 overweight.

as far as this Danica thing.......what's nascar going to do next...bring in a monkey to drive a car? Women in nascar should be working the consession stand.

Wow, I really hope your not that ignorant ... Your probally just mad that she would work you in a race.. She can't be any worse than Stephen Wallace , Kyle petty, Paul menard and a handful of other drivers

Hey Danica the car does turn left. You're supposed to avoid the wrecks.

LOL.... is kind of sad, but I am actally happy she is out of the race. ESPN has done a GREAT job turning this into the Danica 300 at Daytona....

I know she is generating interest, but this is getting excessive.... They still haven't even covered the drivers that caused the wreck.

We have great drivers and stories up front... can we concentrate on that some and not jump back to what Danica is doing every 2 minutes!!!

Good riddance!!!

    • I think a lot of wrs are going to go in the second round before we pick.  There are a lot of wr needy teams.  I think there will be a big run on them in the late 30s and 40s.
    • Interesting that they met with Walker three times and Cam Jackson twice.
