POST SEASON - Jake Delhomme in his prime vs. Peyton Manning

I like how everyone is hoping on the peyton manning sucks in the post season bandwagon when it was his defense that f**ked everything up this time around. also give credit to the siants' offense. they did what they had to do to win, and that was keep peyton manning off the field. He didn't get on the field for over 70 minutes and came out cold and threw a pick. i wasn't surprised. the saints controlled the hell out of that game. they won it. peyton didn't lose it. the colt's defense couldn't stop drew brees.

to answer your question, I would take peyton manning every day of every year ever over jake any day.

This 'bandwagon' has been going on for a long time, Peyton has never been good in the post-season. He has several 1st round exits, and I'd say that throwing an interception when it matters most for a pick 6 is 100% HIS fault. and a lot of people seem to be forgetting the defense also let Jake down by not stopping Brady at the end.

Is it not obvious?

Jake throws a pick-6 and the entire game is his fault.

Jake throws multiple interceptions (not for touchdowns) and the entire game is his fault.

Manning throws a pick-6 and it was the Colts defense's fault.

Yep. I think Manning is a classy guy and one of the funniest players in the league, but I don't get this whole "greatest of all time" thing. It comes to a point where you have to stop blaming defenses and look at the individual failings of the player.

I just don't think the ENTIRE blame needs to be on manning. yes he threw a pick 6.

other individual failings include:

Stover missing a Field goal

Pierre Garcon dropped a sure fire first down plus extra yards after the catch that killed their drive.

at the end of the game, manning was marching the colts downfield and reggie wayne dropped the pass on 4th down right at the goal line.

The colt's defense could not stop drew brees if their life depended on it, and that is why they lost. yes the interception was manning's fault. i'm just saying it's hard for any QB to come off the bench that cold and be expected to produce amazingly. he needs help and his supporting cast let him down too and to put the loss squarely on manning's shoulders is ridiculous. He had an outstanding postseason before the super bowl, and in recent years his post season performances have been solid. His super bowl performance this year was solid as well, he was just never on the field and he threw a stupid pick. everyone does.

Why is no one jumping on the tom brady's legacy is ruined bandwagon since he has sucked in the playoffs the past two games he played?

Stover missing was more the fault of the coaching staff. It was painfully obvious he was going to miss.

true. that was an exceptionally long field goal for an old guy like that. either way, to put every post season loss the colts have experienced solely on peyton manning, is ridiculous in my opinion. he can't win every game all by himself and he can't lose every game all by himself. it took a team effort to lose the superbowl on sunday.

I don't think all of them are solely his fault. In fact, I don't think any of them are solely his fault. But, he did have a hand in losing that game, as well as others I'm sure. To not fault him would be a mistake.

That's really all I was addressing. Plus I find the double standard of Delhomme vs Manning to be funny. A mistake is a mistake. In fact, one by such a better QB should mean even more, right? Nah. It doesn't work like that in Panther land apparently.

1 mistake is just a mistake... 6 mistakes.. well, that's a whole different story.

    • A lot of people think this draft is weak at QB--I think, after the first five picks of the first round, there are a ton of developmental QBs who could develop into the role--here is the psychology behind it--Bryce becomes the mentor--you can learn as much by teaching others than by being taught.   It also makes him a true leader.  But I think there are a few QB in this draft that might not be ready now, but in 2 years, could be NFL starting QBs--Howard, Rourke, Ewers, Milroe, Dart, etc.  Talk about a cheaper backup and one that could evolve into trade capital--or if Bryce can't find consistency-his replacement.  Round 3 will have some of these qbs--maybe early day 3.
    • hopefully he has the impact on the run game post surgeries that TD had on defense after his surgeries.
