Last year I boldly predicted and stated that:

a) The Saints would win the NFC South, the NFC Championship and Super Bowl

Drew Brees would prove that he is the best QB in the NFL

c) Sean Payton would prove that he is one of the top 3 coaches in the NFL

d) Reggie Bush would show why he deserved the #2 pick in the draft

and I could go on and on.

The only thing that prevented this from happening last year was injuries and now the Saints are firmly entrenched as the favorite to go to the Super Bowl representing the NFC not only next year but for years to come.

Sorry for being a year early on this but good to see I was right after all.

Yes, that was also one of his crowning achievements. Too bad those posts went down on the old board, along with the ones where he claimed Steve Smith "lost a step" in 2008 and that Reggie was a "much better" running back than Deangelo Williams.

a) The Saints did deserve to win the SB, even though I cheered for the Colts the whole time.

Drew Brees has been kicking ass ever since 2006, 'nough said

c) Payton has won Coach of the Year 2 out of the past 4 years, that's pretty damn good

d) Reggie Bush has been somewhat underrated, but having him on your team is a real asset.

So I support 3/4 of those pointers. My SB prediction next year: Panthers 27, Chargers 24

You're right. What a monumental feat it is to average 5.6 yards per carry on 70 attempts when you're playing on one of the best passing teams in the league.

Most probably think I'm not a fan of Bush, but I am. I think the Saints use his skill set very well, and any team would be lucky to have a player like him.

That doesn't change the fact that he just wasn't worth the second pick in the draft.

It's funny that just about every New Orleans fan I talked to when I traveled there for the Panthers game made it a point to talk about why they needed to get rid of Reggie Bush given that Pierre is a more complete back for 1/10 the price, and also his lack of north-south running. They were saying this before and after the Panthers game, even though they were undefeated. This is the same "expert" who claimed that because guys like Mark Simoneau and Kevin Keavashakaihiarkarhan were on IR for the Saints (despite the fact that he couldn't make our team even with numerous preseason injuries), that is why their defense underperformed. Not because of an awful scheme or a lack of talent that wasn't improved until last offseason.
