Whole lotta bitchin'.... however, some stats

I hope this hasn't been posted before, but I figured I'd make a thread and see how it goes.

I give credit to the Aint's. They will always be the Aint's in my heart, but this year they were good. A Superbowl win proves it. However, does anyone else feel the celebration should be a bit bittersweet? Panthers fans should also stop their bitching for the following reasons:

It took the Aint's 43 years to win a Superbowl. It took the Panthers a mere 8 years of existing to show up for one and barely lose in it. The Aint's have had 8 playoff appearances in 43 years. Panthers have had 4 playoff appearances in 15 years.

For the Panthers to have a pretty good record after such a short existence says a lot, especially when you look at other expansion teams like the Texans and Jaguars.

What I'm saying is that it isn't the end of the world. The Panthers will remain a competitive team given it's track record.

Now we can just hope that the Aint's fade to obscurity after their SB win like the Bucs did :D

P.S.- And at least it wasn't the Falcant's. My hatred for them (and their fans) is just too deep.

At least I'm glad the Aints won this than the Falcants. And it took them 4 decades to win it. Our time will come faster & when we do win the big one not too long, we could be the NFC South team to get it quicker than the other 2. I can live with that.

That is my only concern, honestly. That the Panthers become the last to win a SB in the NFC South. I think we can beat the Falcants to it. But again, even if they win one, it doesn't dramatically say that much considering they've been around for 45 years and have yet to get one.

Again, I think the Panthers are making the right steps towards making themselves a solid, enduring franchise.

Also, I don't understand some of you Panthers "fans". It's all well and dandy to say to an opponent, "Hey, you guys did good." But to actually SUPPORT a rival team to win? You guys are insane and are only luike-warm fans.

I know rivalries aren't as insane as college, but would you ever hear a UNC fan root for Duke if say, UNC was excluded from the NCAA Tourney and Duke was in it? HELL no. You simply do not root for rivals in championship situations.

I already gave my word of praise to the Aints. They did good. They won the SB. Fantastic. But would I root for them to win? Hell no. Absolutely no. And I have no idea why some of you guys on this board actually rooted for them thinking it was somehow good for the NFC South. You are insane.

    • Qbs aren't defined by physical abilities. Brady, Brees, Manning, Montana, Warner,.....doesn't seem to correlate.

    • If we are going to spend the money anyway, maybe the signing is not as bad as it seems.  Mays outperformed Corbett (before his injury and if you go back to last year, Corbett has been below average) and then Christensen took the job and Mays quickly took it from him and never looked back.  He could use improvement reaching to the next level (LBs) but picking up stunts and blitzes---he was surprisingly good.  Run blocking needs some work, but he is 25.  Corbett, in my view, should be G/C depth and if Mays steps back, he is there.  Mays should start because this team is building for the future and 30 year old players are not building blocks.  We shall see.  That is how I think about it, but there are many factors we do not know. Having said that, I like what Zavala is doing, and I do not want to bring in someone who would take opportunities away from him.  Zavala was really good at RG down the stretch, and in limited duty, was awesome. In fact, we have a guard from the PS who played briefly and did well, but he only played a few plays.  He is 25 and I recall that fans of his former team were upset when we signed him.   Maybe as the backup center only (Corbett).  You need 2 centers to run practices efficiently.  I cannot say enough about the OL coaches on this staff.  What they have done is overshadowed by the Lewis / Hunt signing.  Mays, Ekwonu, Zavala--impressive growth.
