Julius Peppers will be on WFNZ's Mac Attack tomorrow to talk about his status w/team

Peppers clearly isn't that media savvy. Some of what he says is self-contradictory.

All in all, he just comes off as a guy with a bunch of feelings and no clear plan. That's probably at least in part due to Carl Carey. Still, if he wasn't a talented football player with a boatload of cash, I find myself wondering how he'd take care of himself.

My expectation is that he'll be tagged again, but this time it will be with an eye toward trading him. If he and Carey are smart, they'll cooperate.

(and yeah, I know that's a really big "if") :(

There is nothign wrong with a bunch of feelings and no clear plan. He has probably never seriously considered playing elsewhere or what he would do outside of Carolina. That might be a bad thing for his career (lol, well, not at this point, but early in his career) but it's good for the Panthers. That means that he doesn't really want to be anywhere else. This interview just reinforces that, I think.

Whoever said that this was a contradicting interview was right on. Especially his claim that his goal was not to be the highest paid defensive player in the league, but then he said that he didn't feel our offer after 2007's bad season was not intended to be serious because it only "slightly" would have made him the highest paid player. That doesn't make a lot of sense.

lol nicely played with the disability thing... but you're wrong...again...

I've never claimed to be king of anything, and have based all my posts on the matter on past actions and a simple understanding of psychology and business...

I just didn't appreciate your interpretation of the interview, and lack of desire to spread the truth of what was said rather than jump to a conclusion... I've seen your posts in the past that say "Fvck Pep" and things similar, so it's pretty obvious your mind is made up on the situation...

My first response here basically said the same thing as your last line... the interview was a lot of double-talk, media spin, and we really don't know any more than before...

I'd still wager a good amount that I'm going to be right on how it all ends up working out... If not, so be it, I'll eat my crow...

Yes, its true I've taken that stand on Pep. As a fan, that was my first kneejerk reaction, you dont want to be here then you'r against us, hit the road. (i.e. Collins & Jenks). One thing I have always acknowledged is his superior athleticism, that cant be denied.

I am softening my stance on the Pep situation though, mostly due to the piss poor descisions that have come out of this organization over the last few years. No wonder he wants to leave.

And I don't care who you are 'that disablility thing' is funny right there....:D

The difference between this year and last year is the cap. Teams would have had to give Pep a HUGE portion of their salary cap in order to pay him the franchise tag money. This year they can give him that money without worrying about how many other players it would cost them. I really believe that the draft picks weren't what held teams back from trading for Pep...it was the 18 million bucks they would have to account for under their cap.

I expect a trade this year and we will have a first round draft pick because of it.

Taken as a whole, I really didn't learn anything from that interview besides the fact that Peppers believed the Panthers intended to trade him under the franchise tag last year, which totally contradicts the Panthers stated intentions and actions at the time.

What I understand now, is that Peppers has some serious trust issues with the Panthers FO. He wanted to be traded last year but felt that the moment he signed the tender the Panthers would trade him to the highest bidder. It's hard to do business with someone that doesn't trust you... he's carrying all this baggage into the situation now where he hasn't heard from them and if that's true, I agree with him that I would take offense to the fact that nobody was considerate enough to call me and let me know where things are. Even worse, when he complains he hasn't heard anything, they text him? really?? So nobody has the time to pick up the phone and call me?

Taking Peppers and his agent at his word, I'm really scratching my head over how the Panthers FO is handling this. I hope the reason is more mature and well thought out than just "you were mean to us last year", that's a reaction I would expect from a teenager.

There is obviously a lot we dont know and probably never will. Bottom line for me is that even if Peppers was concerned about the Panthers just trading him to the highest bidder - you mean to tell me his agent (yeah I know the guy isnt really an agent) couldnt work out a deal with one of the teams Peppers wanted to go to??????? I mean come on, how hard or effective was Peppers/his agent last offseason trying to work something out when HE was in control between the time the Panthers tagged him and he signed the tender?

i just heard the clip on espn where he supposedly said he doesn't want to sign a long term deal. what he actually said was that how can he say he wants to be here when the organization hasn't made it known that they want him.

i've always loved ya Pep, but news flash. the franchise has tried to sign you long term twice, and hasn't been able to due to differences. thats twice its been made known that you are wanted. nothings changed.
