Julius Peppers will be on WFNZ's Mac Attack tomorrow to talk about his status w/team

Yeah I knew Pepp wouldn't do a live interview....he would only do taped ones. I'm a UNC grad and went to UNC the same time as Peppers. He's killed us though the last 4 years...most guys never finish their rookie deal because of the huge numbers at the end. By not reworking or getting an extension he hurt us to add valuable pieces to a nice team.

Maybe he'll call out the Panthers for sticking with Jake Delhomme... Personally, I wouldn't blame him...

Doubt he would do that, since he not that kind of a guy who would be unhappy because of just one guy. Hell, even Gross, Smitty, DeWill, & others stand by Jake. Personally, I think it just the money thing he want.

............ Hey guys. I just got done taping the interview with Julius Peppers. Don't miss it on Tuesday's Mac Attack at 7am. You'll hear why he doesn't want to sign a long term deal and why he turned down an offer to make him the highest paid Defensive Player in the NFL after his 2 1/2 sack season...

TAPED interview??? What a puss and like I said in an earlier post - this is going to be nothing but a ploy by Peppers to plea and try to get the fans & local media on his side to make a last effort to get the Panthers Org to just let him walk.

I have an idea... why dont you get rid of your Agent ( I mean friend) and listen to the coach of one of this generations best teams (Belichick), a team you wanted to go to, and when the Panthers tag you = SIGN THE TENDER!!

So I heard he was sort of insulted that they haven't approached him yet?

That means he must've wanted to play.

Yea, maybe the FO will hear this interview and understand what his stand has been the last couple years. I understand pretty much everything he explained and I see where Peppers does stand. Now it's clear that he may resign as a Panther when things are more cleared up between him and Jerry.

When he wanted out last year, he said he wanted a change and felt like the team was going down hill... with Jake Delhomme and the Trgovac crappy defense at the end of the season and all that.

I think if he was planning on leaving, he would not explain all of this on the Radio. Maybe it's a good-bye? Or to say.. hey, they're not talking to me, lets work this out! I don't know. We'll see.

I think the latter. It's obvious he could go somewhere else and play, but he's been here so long and he's nearing the end of his career. Does he not feel at home here? Doesn't he have a home here? What about family? lol :conf:

Either way, I don't think he's the evil demon everyone makes him out to be. He's a good player and I would like to see him back again, for a 12mil/year deal at 5 years.

Stupid AM reception wouldn't allow me to hear all of it here in Raleigh this morning on the way to work... The bits and pieces I did catch though were as much as I expected... Posturing by Pep and Carey to try and get the Panthers jumping...

As Dan Morgan said twice later (I streamed that little bit) Pep should be the highest paid defensive player... Pep and Carey know this and it will probably happen in the end, but with the Panthers...

Jerry and Co. are still sitting on their hands about the labor dispute, and it appears that if nothing changes after this interview, we'll tag Pep again... We can always tag him to be safe by the deadline (Feb 25th), and then later rescind it if we agree on a long term contract with him...

I'll listen to the whole interview if I can when it is replayed in 30 mins, but one would think anyone here who heard it would have offered a brief overview, other than repeating the song lyric that they played on interview exit (which was a nice media twist, btw)...

As Mac himself even stated, after this interview (at least what I heard), we don't know that much more about the situation...

Deep down, Pep wants to work it all out... The Panthers just have to show him they are willing to talk...

I'm starting to think Jerry is an even bigger player than we know in the negotiations between the NFLPA and the Owners... I'm starting to think less of the Big Cat as of late, but hopefully he'll change that...

You hear that Jerry? Your fans are losing faith in you...

Yeah he said pretty much he has thought about being in Charlotte well long enough in his career but the same time he really "doesn't mind" to stay in Carolina. So all this is 2 sided as hell.

Like Samuel L said... Jerry is tied up with the CBA though, and probably is waiting to see what will happen before anything is decided.

Speak for yourself. Jerry's track record is pretty damn good. And I fully believe had he not been sick last year that extension to Delhomme and the way we handled Pep last year would have been very different.

Jerry has done an excellent job running our team and I fully trust him to do what is best for the Panthers.

..and that's really the only leverage he and Carey have...

The deadline to tag is Feb 25th...

Free Agency begins March 5th... which is also the day that the new provisions kick in should a new CBA not be reached...

This means Carey and Pep will have a week to try and wiggle their way around if they don't like the way the Panthers are doing things...

Also, I hope that people like Thomas Davis and Richard Marshall don't get lost in the shuffle...

I can't blame the Panthers not wanting to conduct business not knowing what is going to happen... I mean look around the rest of the league, not much happening there either...

I've never really blamed Pep either... The bad decisions on that end have, for the most part, been all Carey...

Oh I agree with pretty much all you said...

I'm still losing faith in him in that he seems to be putting the rest of the league ahead of his own team... That's my opinion, sure...

By him being so involved in that, we could lose a good day or two that other teams will be using to their advantage...

I can't say I blame him though, because it's looking more and more like there won't be any football at all in 2011, and if he's trying to fix that, good for him...
