The newly released 2010 Del Webb Baby Boomer survey, conducted by Harris Interactive for Pulte/Del Webb, found that 42 percent of today's 50-year-olds plan to move during retirement. The researchers found the Carolinas are now considered "the new Florida" among young and older boomers: 20 percent preferred South Carolina, while 16 percent favored North Carolina.

South Carolina is #3 and closing fast on #2 Arizona! (#1 being Florida.)

I have seriously been considering moving into a 55+ community in South Carolina (I'll be 53 in May and due to my back injury, I am semi-retired.)

South Carolina gives great tax incentives for retirees. They know they have a steady stream of income, (Pensions + Social Security.) Which leaves a lot of discretionary spending. (Most homes are either paid for or close to being paid for.) Retirees don't use the schools, at least not the lower schools (A lot take college courses.) Don't drive as much, so vehicle taxes are lower for them.)

There is a reason that Ft Mill & Rock Hill are leading the way at retirement communitities. Close to the action in Charlotte, and they are self contained towns.

Keep in mind, Mick Jagger will be 67! Paul Mcartney will be 68!
