Now i will agree with all the rigged stuff but you can't get mad at people for hating the fact that people love the saints because of Katrina. Now they are a americas team and how great the story is poo.

In my mind this is no diffrent then the cowboys winning it I hated then and I hate that the saints have won it now.

I hate the fact that now the saints have a tactical Nuke in every smack talking contest. "We have lombardi what do you have?" How many times you think you will hear that poo when they come up here for their beating. Before and after the game. Call it jealousy or what ever but i love too have that in my Arsenal against a rival. No matter how many times we crush the Bucs they can dangle that little nugget over our hands. Yesterday repersents another team we have too see twice be able too do that.

Lets all blame it on Obama, every sports team he predicts to win they end up winning. I think that alone says something.

The gloating is what's going to be pretty annoying. I mean, if the Panthers won a SB I wouldn't be on the Saints board, I never go there anyways unless linked to a thread about the Panthers. That's not to say the whining isn't annoying either.

People need to get over Saints winning and realize we're a pretty lucky franchise. We've accomplished more as a franchise in our short existence than what many other teams have. Hell, no expansion team has won a SB yet(I don't count the Ravens as they just moved cities keeping the Browns roster in place, wasn't a real expansion team.)

Jags came when we did and they haven't even seen a super bowl, and the Texans have been here a decade and haven't even been in the PLAYOFFS.

When it comes down to it, we aren't the Browns or Lions, we have a talented team set up that can make the playoffs every year. I don't know about you guys, but I'd rather have a good team NOW than be able to say "well we won a super bowl 10 years ago so our franchise is good!!!!!!!"

Oh well, now we just have to win it next year. Who cares if some fan you are arguing with uses the Lombardi card? That means you effectively won the argument.

No it fuging doesn't!! It means I have too shut the fug up in my NFC champion jersey from 7 years ago and they get too sturt off in their new fresh and clean superbowl champion jersey. Just because your honda beats a Bently in a few races down street doesn't mean you don't want a Bently!!! The fact that you can play the Lombardi card means somthing.

Sonofa... there might be something to this.

*Calling my congressman to ask Obama about the Charlotte 49ers before March*

I think there is something bigger than that homedog. I think the "Suits" are behind all of this......... *Whispers Conspiracy*

Buffloe feels like they have accomplished alot too doesn't make them fell any better about not having a lombardi.

We as a fanbase need too stop with all the expansion mentality. Pats on the back for making it too the playoffs. Feeling good about early triumphs. We are a real Football city now. We don't have a lombardi this is not a good thing.

Yep your the only one.

so you'd pretty much be 100% fine being a fan of the Rams, Bucs, Redskins, Raiders because they used to be successful?

I know, and I still feel like poo that we don't have anything, but there is no reason to whine about it. We have a team with potential to do it next year, might as well move on to that and hope for the best instead of crying that a team in our division won and we didn't.

Championships is what defines a Franchise's legacy. Why do you think there are a whole bunch of Redskins, and Raiders fans that are still active? Why do they seem to have the most passionate fans? Its the legacy that they leave behind for generations and generations to come.

    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
