Pennington wins second comeback player of the year award

Stats shouldn't mean jack to comeback awards.

I'd have to agree this is likely a northeastern thing. I can say without a single trace of homerism that the notion that Pennington coming back from being benched and switching to another team is a greater feat than Delhomme coming back from Tommy John surgery is as stupid a suggestion as I've ever heard.

Who gives a poo? You guys act shocked that the national media isn't giving our team or players any respect again. To be honest, I'm surprised they've espoused as much as they have about Williams.

Besides, the only trophy I want Jake to be hoisting is the Lombardi.

so a guy can come back from an injury and throw 45 ints and 2 td's and lose every start but still win the award???? what else would they base it on besides stats??? that makes no sense......

I missed the part of this award that is the "I sucked for 2-3 years and got cut/benched but got lucky and had a good year" award. W/e

i missed where the award is "i was injured last year and had a good season next year" award......

there is not a certain criteria to win....the dude gets cut...not traded....but cut...fired...released...thrown to the wolves....not even good enough to shop around....and he has his career year with a 1-15 team the year before, wins the afc east, out plays the person who replaced him all season(who happens to be brett favre), broke franchise records (you know, dan marino held those records) 4 straight games with 100+ qb rating, yards, qb % etc etc.....

he is a GIGANTIC reason for the dolphins having 11 wins, regardless of schedule....he is throwing to greg camarillo, brandon london, anthony fasano, and undrafted free agent davone bess....

he has NO recievers....and yet, he had a damn good season....

why shouldnt he have won this award?

He is also throwing to Ted Gin JR and i'm pretty sure he can do something. He also has two good running backs and ur TE isn't bad either. And in my opinion a great football manager in Parcell. I think he deserved to be nominated but not win kinda like MVP and Manning but won't go in to that. Anyways congrats on having a good QB.

How did your comeback player do today? I have 4 INT's that say he was over-rated. Have fun watching the rest of the NFL in the playoffs :)

my quaterback sucked ass today....hes perfect to prime my future qb chad henne.....you have had a mediocre qb for years....

but i dont remember chad having 70 yard games like good ole' delhomme...

the award was already given, despite todays performance...he deserved it more than jake, because chad had a wayyy better season, with less to work with....good luck in the playoffs though....but imo CAR will win just as many superbowls as the dolphins this season......0

but anything can happen...

If Miami had to actually play decent teams, they do not even sniff the playoffs. The only decent teams you beat were NE (3rd game when Cassell was trying to figure it out), and SD when they were reeling. Other than that you great team beat the Jets (when they were imploding), Buffalo twice (enough said), Oakland, SL, Seattle,...... not a winning record among any of them.

You played a good team today....and got flat out owned and embarassed.

thanks tom jackson, what a ground breaking analysis!!!!

we did what other teams in our division couldnt....we beat those crap teams on our schedule.....the jets lose to Sea, Oak, SF....we beat them....

we did the only thing we could do, beat teams on our schedule...

i didnt know we could petition the commish halfway through the season and ask to play "better" teams so we can impress random panther fans....

I'd hardly call a performance like that a "comeback".

The nature of the "comeback" award is that it's based on adversity. Thus, the level of adversity faced would have more bearing that statistical comparisons (assuming all parties involved had good years).

Throw in that if you're judging an award of any sort, and one of the guys involved has accomplished something that has never been done, that counts way bigger than something that's happened before, multiple times.

I have no issues with Pennington (I'm from West Virginia and he went to Marshall) but he didn't deserve this award as much as Delhomme did, and I can say that with objectivity.
