Completely irrelevant.... a total bs screw job

I'm not trying to watch FSU get blown out because they didn't have their star QB in the lineup.

Screw job yeah, but this was the best decision from a competitive point of view. FSU damn near loss to Louisville. They would have got blown out by either of the other 3 teams.

FSU got screwed over by a bad system, and the solution to that problem is to increase the bracket so that games can actually be played to answer the question that right now has to be determined on paper

the committee needed to apply the logic they’ve been using consistently over the CFP era, and they did that.

if the answer to the problem was “let’s change things because THIS time it feels wrong to omit this team” then Texas and Alabama are getting screwed hard, as would be all of CF without a unifying standard

the question is who are the best four teams, the answer should be let’s let them play and figure that out, the second best solution is what they did; a flawed but consistent metric. The worst option would be an ever changing standard that conveyed no trust.

How is the logic consistent? Genuinely curious. Are there other examples of undefeated p5 teams being left out? Are there other examples of leaving an undefeated team out because of an injury to one player? Are there examples of an undefeated team getting leap frogged in the rankings by TWO one-loss teams? Are there other examples of an undefeated team getting leap frogged in the rankings by a one loss team while coming off a victory against a higher ranked team? Is the “eye test” typically only applied for one game? The only standard I’m seeing is SEC representation in the playoff no matter what, and Texas for beating that SEC team first game of the season. That win is very heavily weighted for Texas even though it was the first game of the season, but the loss doesn’t mean as much for Alabama because it was the first game of the season. Because that makes sense. And Texas’ loss doesn’t matter that much because it was earlier in the season. And Bama needing a miracle to beat Auburn doesn’t matter because it’s a rivalry game. But FSU gets dinged on the “eye test” for only beating Florida by 9 the same week…in a rivalry game. The only thing that consistently makes sense is SEC favoritism and money.

There is no consistency with this selection its a horrible precedent....

I think they would get blown out as well but it doesn't erase what that entire team busted their azz for all season..... Yes better match-up and tv ratings but FSU earned that bid....

you’re suggesting a system where qualifying is centered around a points system based strictly on mathematical accomplishments.

No what I’m suggesting is up until after conference championships everything stays the same. The exact same. Then you tally three simple scores, with some sort of tie breaker for the lower end teams.

Top 16 ranked teams…

Conference champions - 2 points

Undefeated Teams - 1 point

Losses - -1 point

Some sort of tiebreaker for all the teams that are 11-1 or what ever it is. Add your SoS or w/e

A playoff would be a lot more entertaining than this poo they put up right now.

The NFL doesn't have a voting process for who gets in the playoffs.

Nice try though...

It’s not a “try” whatever that means.  Football is about winning.

Just because YOU or whoever think something might happen doesn’t negate what has already happened.  FSU was undefeated and beat LSU, Florida, Clemson, Miami, Louisville…won the ACC…and should have been in the Top 4.

College football changes with the wind and it’s not good for the sport at all.

I could lay out why Alabama‘s resume’ is mathematically superior to FSU’s but it really doesn’t matter

Florida state doesn’t have its best player at the most important position, and that’s the question being asked: who are the best four teams?

that’s the same question the committee has been consistent on

nobody believes without Jordan Travis that Florida state is one of the best four teams, and in their chance to prove it, they underwhelmed.

do they deserve a chance to prove we’re all just mean haters and make us eat our crow for thinking that? Sure, but that game isn’t being played because the system is flawed.

until the expansion, all the committee can do is apply consistent logic, and they did.

most everyone believes Texas and Alabama would beat Florida state without their best QB, they have the resume’ and the recent performance to instill confidence in that assertion, and that’s all it comes down to.

it has nothing to do with the SEC. Had Travis not been hurt, they would be in.

Hell, I wish they'd had the balls to put UGA in over Bama despite the SEC championship game when UGA had multiple offensive stars banged up.

I mean, Bama needed a hail Mary to beat Auburn last week who was coming off an absolute ass whooping to powerhouse New Mexico State. UGA is the better team despite last night's results. So if we're doing the whole "best teams" thing let's do it full bore.

Then stop watching college sports. The NCAA has always been shady. You guys want the perfect storm and that's just not realistic.

There is always a team that felt they got screwed over. It sucks but that's how the voting process works.

If Mahomes gets injured Week 16 does the NFL keep the Chiefs out of the playoffs?

The system doesn’t work like this and saying that the committee should retroactively decide on a whim that it now should completely destroys any credibility in it

humans can endure flawed systems as long as those system are consistently applied.
