Torry Holt will be released by Jaguars

Depends on the situation, Don't sign Holt come March; unless Moose is gone then I would love to sign him. If you plan to keep Moose; wait till after the draft. If you get a solid WR in the draft don't bother; perhaps wait till start of TC and see what any WR shows you in early workouts. Then try and sign Holt.

I think Holt still has some stuff left in the tank; and would be a solid #2 and perhaps a great #3. But its a numbers game; and you can't have two aging WR, unless you swing and miss in the draft.

If Panthers are smart they sign Steve Breaston and make Moose #3, plus draft a solid guy in draft.

Seriously? He's to old? He is one of the smartest and most productive receivers and had never had a complement like steve smith on the other side of the field. Also he is better than any other receiver on our depth chart excluding smith and should be affordable. Worst case he will be one hell of a mentor and a leader. I don't see any reason to not bring him in unless it becomes a bidding war with another team. Also he said he wants to play here.

Isaac Bruce?

Ok...let me start again. My only point is this organization needs to make up it's mind what it is going to do one way or the other......period. We have talent we never utilize as we should, but everybody wigs out every cotton picken time there is another player cut loose, or available.

It will not matter who we pick up, keep, or try to get, if we aren't going to utilize each and everyone of them to the max.

Not hard math, but this org can't figure.

Everybody knows they support Jarrett, or doubt him theories, without question.....but can you really say, with all honestly they have kept him this long and that they think he is so dumb he can't do what they drafted him for?

If your answer is yes, then look at the other part of my statements concerning the organization.

Really, really simple. Point where you want, but the blame is somewhere in there....I promise you.

I don't think anybody wigs out, the OP said he was just throwing it out for disscussion. A lot of the FA topics in the offseason are the result of boredom. I remember I made a TO topic when he was relased from the eagles. I didn't think we should have signed him but i just made the topic for disscussion.

I think the reason they've kept him this long is because he looks good in practice. But I'm betting he probably had some maturity/work ethic issues that they still hold against him. He is also incomplete as a WR, his routes are some of the worst I've seen at the pro level. His cuts are lazy and he doesn't fight for the ball at all. As big as he is he needs to use his body to his advantage but he doesn't. I'm no scout but I think anyone would agree he's got some big faults.

Fox won't start guys until their complete. D-will was a better RB than foster from the start. But fox's love for vets combined with his high standards for young guys kept him on the bench.

I kinda agree with what they're doing, he's not worth to keep as a #2 but he looks good as a #4. They see the potential so they're making the investment of a roster spot. I'm cool with that but I'm not cool with depending on him to step up. I'd much rather find somebody else. If matt moore plays he should still be able to break out as a #3.

You have to prepare for the posibilities of him being a bust because he sure looks like one. I would like to see a FA and a draft pick put into the mix.

Jarrett's seen the field a bunch... point nullified.

He was almost never thrown to because Jake only checks Moose and Smitty and if neither are open then he throws it into double coverage. He never checks down to Jarrett, who is most often covered by a safety or a LB, which is a mismatch. The few times he has, Jarrett has caught the ball.

seriously...too old. what does him being one of the best and smartes ever have to do with him being too old? does that bring about some kind of immunity against age?
and had never had a complement like steve smith on the other side of the field.
isaac bruce? rick proehl? wasn't like he had crap around him by any means. both those other guys demanded a lot of respect form DBs.
Also he is better than any other receiver on our depth chart excluding smith and should be affordable.
not difficult to do but do you want to keep bringing in old WRs past their prime or try and give some younger guys a legit chance to get some real game experience?
Worst case he will be one hell of a mentor and a leader.
overrated at this point.
I don't see any reason to not bring him in unless it becomes a bidding war with another team.
bidding war won't happen.
Also he said he wants to play here.
he said that before we cut his brother.

wr is obviously our biggest weakness just like dt was our biggest weakness last offseason. we brought in an ancient hollis thomas and everything was fine. i don't think anyone will argue thomas' effectiveness. if moose doesn't come back i don't think holt would be a bad addition. even if our 2nd rounder is a wr, bringing in all the help we can get at wr isn't a bad thing. we brought in all kinds of depth at dt at the beginning of last season and it worked out pretty good.

One day people are going to stop making excuses for Jarrett like they did for Jake. I'm still waiting for that day.

Jarrett has had his chances, even when playing with Jake. I'm still waiting for him to break his first tackle. Even keary colbert and drew carter could get a few.

Can you really see DJ be a star in this league? Or even serviceable? I can't.

Right now his position matches his level of play... 4th receiver.

i will just repeat what i said last time. it can only be moose OR holt, choose one.

in a perfect world, panthers need a true #1 WR. so smity can move into a z/slot/wes welker role and give Ds matchup nightmares. image smity lineup across a LB or SS, i like those odds.

get a true #1

hope jarrett flips the switch and becomes a true #2.

move smity to slot/Z

sign moose or holt, just one.

draft a PR/KR #5 WR aka smity clone replacement.

donz

panthers would average 30+ pts, even with jake at QB......
