What's needed at QB?

I feel we should cut Jake in this uncapped year and take the hit.It is my opinion that a QB that has been the starter for years and then is asked to be a backup is just asking to split and divide the team.

The first time Matt Moore has an off game,for whatever reason,fingers will be pointed at him,by Jake suporters on the team . This will create division and friction within that would not be present if Jake were not lurking in the background.

This type of problem has helped destroy other teams seaons in the past,so who's to say it won't happen next season to the Panthers.

In my opinion,it is to big of a risk factor to keep Jake,as opposed to the very small reward factor should he stay.

If The Panthers feel there is another servicable veteran QB out there,i wouldn't be opposed to them bringing him in to compete with the ones currently on the roster.

Garrard would be a mistake IMO. All we need is a qb whose fumble prone to match Jake's int's(if he's on the roster). I'm with the veteran backup + mid round qb people. Though I know the veteran qb is gonna be Jake most likely.

Those are the reasons I go with Moore / Delhomme / Cantwell next season.

I always like that choice. I would cut Feeley & McCown. Cantwell should be #3, since he has shown promise in the preseason.

And how can Jake make Moore throw bad like him by being his mentor or something? Coaching is different than playing as a QB. Very different. Jake's skill right now is his arm, but his mind when he isn't playing is not bad. Would you say Vinny suck as a mentor with how DeAngelo gave him credit for getting better with how he was quite bland as a QB with us? I thought so.

I believe we all know John Fox.

If anyone believes that Jake Delhomme will not go to camp and into the regular season as number 1, is seriously mistaken.

It will be: Delhomme, Moore, and fill-in the blank.

If Delhomme had not broken that finger, does anyone one here really believe that he would not have continued to start?

Again, we know John Fox. He will not draft a QB. He will not bring in any competition to upset the status quo. It's not going to happen.

Too, I guess in my mind, if it's not a 1st/2nd rd QB, why bother. There are very few QBs in the NFL that didn't come from those rounds, and yes, we all know the exceptions as there are so few of them.

3 things:

1) Matt Mooore has shown potential and deserves to be the #1 going into Summer camp, I am not however ready to annoint him the starter for this decade.

2) Jake will be an excellent backup, as his contract I believe means he will be on the roster in 2010.

3) We still need to go QB this draft early either 2nd or 3rd round and have something brewing behind Mooore. No more of the scrub late rounders, castoffs, and free agents. Let's get serious about competing in a QB driven league.

Delhomme just needs to get the hell out of the way. He needs to stay the hell away from coaching any one too. Moore doesn't need to pick up any of Jake's bad habits. If he doesn't retire, cut him. He's done playing in the NFL and we pay him the same whether we cut him or keep him. Might as well cut him rather than him seeing the field again and hurting the team or coaching and hurting Moore.

Bring in a vet QB and draft a QB mid-late round and let them compete with Moore for starter.

A big reason Moore did so well last year was that Jake was helping him. I agree Jake shouldn't be on the field next year but I wouldn't mind having him around to mentor MM.

keep Delhomme as back up, draft for future, Moore starts, nothing of a shocker its no good cutting Delhomme and still having to pay him at least he knows the playbook and should something go awry would be a better option than having a rookie or veteran journeyman being only able to run the bare minimum offense
