Quick Predictions

i ran through the rest of the season and did a quick W-L for the teams jocking around for the 5,6, 7 and 8th seeds (CHA, MIA, TOR, CHI)

currently:

TOR - 27-23

CHA - 24-24

CHI - 23-24

MIA - 24-26

at end of Feb:

TOR - 32-26

CHA - 31-26

CHI - 31-28

MIA - 29-31

at end of Mar:

CHA - 43-31 ^

TOR - 40-34 v

CHI - 38-36

MIA - 35-40

at end of Season:

CHA - 48-34

TOR - 45-37

CHI - 41-41

MIA - 42-40

i then gave CHA a 5 game (homer) swing and said we would end up 43-39 and be the 6th seed

and thought about it and i think i would rather play the Celtics in a 5 game series than the Hawks

thoughts?

I think the prediction is pretty close to where they will end up on this current path. 4 or 5 games over .500 is reasonable for this Cats team (barring injuries). Normally we would match up really well against the C's but we have gotten blown out twice this year. I think our next game between them will be the tell-tale sign - seeing as they are old and banged up, and when we played them we had a completely different team.

The Hawks are very young, tall and athletic so that matchup would be a toss-up. We killed them in Charlotte and they killed us in Atlanta.

Keep in mind it is actually a 7-game series first round now, so if we can get a couple early wins against the C's then maybe they would be exhausted by game 6 or 7.

Of course we need to make the playoffs first!

Go Cats!

i don't think you can worry about who you play in the playoffs. strangely we've played cleveland the best and atlanta pretty well. orlando we played close one game and then boston absolutely thrashed us twice.

despite this cleveland has the best record and boston the worst of the home court playoff teams iirc. a team that's bad now might be really good come regular season's end. I'd probably like to play the Hawks since they were about full strength and we beat them and played them close, but honestly it doesn't matter.

if we win as many games as we can, we'll most likely play the worst of the four. that's all the cats need worry about.

    • KC has a very good defense this year. It is 5th overall. Yes, still worse than last year, but their offense is considerably worse. Their passing D may be their "weakness" but they still allow fewer than 20 ppg. BY completed several deep passes yesterday, and he was able to threaten downfield in ways he didn't seem capable of before the benching. I'm not necessarily worried about his ability to connect deep anymore. What to me was impressive was that he did all this without a run game. We used the pass to set up what little running success we had. Wild.
    • Solid and fair assessment.   I will say, one of the big things I noticed yesterday was that he wasn't shy to step up into the pocket in the face of pressure.  He's trusting the IOL.  And they took care of Chris Jones yesterday.  We had clean pockets but also good success rate vs. pressure which just hasn't been the case with Bryce.   If he has more confidence the OL gets it done and he can navigate and step up for throws, that's huge.  It's one of the biggest things that's held him back.  He was previously bailing quickly and just too easily throwing away or making dead plays.     He was finding his 2nd to 3rd reads within structure/without bailing in the pocket.  That was nice to see, as much concern I have with him.  And the overall limitations will always be there. Time to back it up this week against the Bucs.
    • Suddenly the Cowgirls look like our best chance for a win remaining. I think the Bucs are playing better than the Falcons of late.  Our lone game versus the dirty birds is in the ATL where we always struggle.  The Cardinals are marginally better than I thought they would be. We are not beating the Eagles, they are starting to roll. I'm saying two at most, next week at home versus the Bucs and the Cowgirls.
