Whew buddy there is a lot to unpack with this post.

You are mistaking your opinion with fact.

CJ Stroud displayed indisputable arm talent at OSU. Though his supporting cast was talented he clearly did indeed elevate his receivers in college and he is doing so in Houston. The talk of needing to adjust to the speed of the game was nonsense. He looks pretty damn good with the speed of the game. In fact the one who looks the worst in that area from the draft class is Bryce Young.

You do not know what CJ Stroud would look like here. I don't know either. But he is having one of the best rookie seasons ever and we passed on that. You can't revise history either pal.

Yeah CJ always was talked about having good arm talent. But that doesnt change what people said about it being concerning that he only had 1 good college game last year.

Its fair to see how they are performing in the NFL and saying that CJ is better. But its not fair to forget all the concerns people had about him going into the draft. That was what the pick was based on - not the current NFL results.

Is this a serious statement? Like wth are you even talking about? Lol

I'm not sure how anyone can honestly say what we have in Bryce Young right now. From the protection to the receivers to the lack of a running game. How can you possibly make a definitive statement on his ability to win games when the supporting cast on offense is performing at such a horrible level.

Maybe he ain't the guy. But comparing him to CJ Stroud right now isn't fair. It just isn't. CJ may be better, but the gap isn't as big as it appears right now.

Those same people missed a lot about Bryce that was on his school film. The fact is that the talking heads and draft experts proved their own limitations in that case. In the end there are politics and professional things going on that most fans don't get to directly see, like agents doing their thing and teams sending out smoke screen information at that time of the year. Who criticized Bryce for not doing more than a water weigh in and height measurements at the Combine? Most of what I saw was people praising his measurables and completely glossing over why he didn't or couldn't (he was retaining a lot of water at that weigh in). It should have been a red flag, smart for him for a flag for any teams, and no one raised a fuss. They actually just checked the box of big enough and went on with the 'pro-ready' shtick that also proved to be wrong. Anyone that did say something was endlessly quoted by the 'experts' that turned out to be wrong.

Most of CJ's criticism was about the talent around him and the school he was coming from former QB products which is ironic because it turned out to be true for Young.

    • Easily. To be able to plug in a backup LT without much drop off from your starter? That could mean the difference between playoffs or sitting at home in January. Good/serviceable smart young and healthy LTs that won’t lose you a ball game at reasonable $$ don’t just come along every day. Everyone talks about the most important positions on a football team… backup LT is in the top 10.  Picture next year… the team is scrappy and competitive, 4 and 3 record, second place in the South. Morale is good. devastating run game that Let’s our marginal defense get plenty of rest. We play the Bucs and win, going to 5 and 3, but we lose Ickey to a high ankle sprain. Atl loses that week and are now at 5 and 3 as well. There is no Ickey and no BC because we let him go… and we go in to Atl the next week for a battle of first in the south. Week after that is the Jets…. Now they lose both by 10 and 3, respectively, and fall to 5 and 5 going in to their bye week. Atl is at 7 and 3. Out of typical Panthers desperation, they try to rush Ickey back in to the lineup with a saints game coming up…  Back to good old Panthers football, always playing catchup. Another season at .500 and the fans sadly rejoice in mediocrity, when playoffs were in reach. This team always overestimates its ability to pick up quality o line depth in the draft or FA and it always blows up in their faces. Like Chuba, I see him as being part of the core that Dan is trying to build. Work on his contract now and see if we can come out with something mutually beneficial. I’d consider 3 yrs at $25m to be very fair.
    • it would be great to have "double trouble" again, I even had a T- shirt for Williams and Stewart and the double trouble logo, was a great time to be Panthers fan. We shall see...
    • Sounds like a plan. Those are the teams we should be mimicking! lol
