PLEASE for the love of this franchise and not a decade of losing seasons bring in a President of Football or we are about to have a Jerry Jones 2.0 scenario except Jerry forgot more football then Tepper will ever know.

Fitterer can stay "for now" until season's end but this team CANNOT go another season of off cycle GM/Coach firings. Fitt MUST GO

Tepper is Mr. Pittsburgh, Mr. Carnegie Melon, Mr. Appaloosa, former Steelers minority owner

Bring in a former Steeler with a long and respected track record, Kevin Colbert.

Look at his BIO, he's perfect for Tepper to be the Panthers Team President and perfect for Panther fans because he understands the business of running an NFL team

A Pittsburgh native, Colbert grew up not far from Three Rivers Stadium on the city's North Side and attended North Catholic High School and Robert Morris University. Colbert has experience in coaching and managing teams in baseball and basketball alongside his primary sport, football. After graduating from Robert Morris University in 1979, he served as a graduate assistant coach on Robert Morris's basketball team from 1979 to 1981 and also was the head coach of the baseball team in 1981. In 1981, Colbert moved to Ohio Wesleyan University to be their backfield coach and recruiting coordinator from 1981 to 1983, and served as the school's head baseball coach in 1984.[3]

In 1984, Colbert joined the BLESTO Scouting Organization and from there was hired by the Miami Dolphins as a college scout from 1985 to 1989. Colbert joined the Detroit Lions as the Pro Scouting Director in 1990, where he was responsible for scouting players at the pro level (the NFL, the NFL Europe League, and the Canadian Football League) as well as assisting with college player evaluation. He joined the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2000 as the director of football operations, assisting in the assembly of two Super Bowl winning teams. In 2010, Colbert was named the Steelers' first ever general manager and was placed in charge of player transactions and acquisitions as the head executive in the Steelers organization.[4]

On January 28, 2022, it was announced that Colbert would step down as the Steelers’ general manager following the 2022 NFL draft. The transaction became official on May 1 after the draft concluded.[5]

he stepped down in 2022, I don't know of any official role he has with the Steelers

It's a behind the scenes thing helping retired players get on their feet, nothing to do with football operations though he still communicates with current leadership.

What that role means as far as taking other jobs, unknown. Depends on whether he has a contract, I suppose.

If a move is in the cards to replace Fitts, that move should already be under way.  There is absolutely no advantage to waiting until the offseason to replace your roster builder.  In fact, it's a distinct disadvantage.

In order to build a roster, you need to know the current roster.  This is experience a new GM can pick up right now, during the season, allowing them to enter the offseason with the needed knowledge to begin the process of fixing this mess.

Because he's still here, I have significant doubts as to whether he will be shown the door.

    • For the silly people that worship her it will be that.  The Coleman 'legend' thing, they did that with another fairly average player that was here and I sort of mocked or questioned the 'legend' status. Instantly caught crap for insulting someone's favorite Panther. So okay, Kurt Coleman is a Legend.
    • You allow him to compete--you all are talking as if I am proposing making him the starter. Give him a new coach, new weapons, good OL, etc. and see what happens. You are saying, "Well Damn.  It did not work for 3 guys..."  Right now, our C is injured, we lost our top 2 WRs.  Better question:  If you need a QB, Why would you not take a chance on bringing in a QB who was a former first rounder, a good arm, intelligence, mobility, youth, etc.  and see how he does out of NY--with a better OL, better running game, better receivers.  I am not saying give him a 10-year contract, I am saying give him a chance. You act like there is no improvement on offense here--it was a 2 year process, and next year is year 2.  To me, how can you sit there with Bryce and an opportunity to sign a veteran QB on the cheap comes available and you say--"Not us. We're good.  We are waiting for Patrick Mahommes."  Jone's problem is obviously mental--and he has little support.  Why is this so frigging hard to comprehend.  It is called "bottom fishing" and it is better than sitting in the boat.
    • I think we're going to fall from behind quite early and be forced to abandon the run game.  3 rushes -2 yards 1 catch -10 yards
