I like Ben Johnson, Waldron, and Frank Smith...all good candidates.  Unless it's a potential rockstar DC type, we're obviously going OC.   But who will it actually be? I'm gonna make an out-there prediction--

Thomas Brown somehow, some way, gets the offense producing TDs from here on out.  With some renewed trust, we pluck more from the Shan/McVay tree with some fresh perspective on that Rams SB staff.  This time, we're going full nepitism & a young offensive mind:

Wes Phillips

Thomas Brown sticks around with his old bud.  Do note--O'Connell wanted Brown in Minny.

I really don't want another defensive guy as HC but Evero and Mike Macdonald (Ravens DC) are probably my only two exceptions

I think Tepp will push for Ben Johnson or Harbaugh and neither will be interested. As others have said, I think he'll end up hiring Frank Smith since he helped turn things around with Tua.

My fear, (besides the fact we're talking about David Tepper), is that we hire Belichick. I've seen multiple people push this, including Will Brinson who should know better. IMO Belichick is washed, and was only a product of Brady even in the good days.

Belichick wouldn't take the job.

I'm betting Kellen Moore, former OC for the Cowboys, current OC of the Chargers, and finalist for the job this past offseason.

If Staley is retained in LA, I think we scoop him up. If not, I think they promote him to HC. He has extensive experience working under a meddling owner (Jerry Jones) so he probably won't blink, especially if we back the brinks truck up for him.

Who’s your pick of who you think it will be (not necessarily who you want it to be)?

Tepper is wooed by Rhule for a second stent.

Kellen Moore impressed the Tepper's before, so it might be him.

Kellen Moore is one of the least experienced options out there.

Also probably worth mentioning that the Cowboys haven't missed a beat without him while the new team he went to is set to fire their head coach also.

Points per game isn't a good metric considering our offense is fuging useless and has given teams a short field the entirety of every game. The fact that they aren't dead last in opp. PPG is a statement in itself

So what is a good metric?  Since points don’t  mean anything in a football game

Staley is going to get fired more because his defense is ass and he's the one calling plays than anything.

    • I'm with you.  Even an extra 3rd would help.  None of the players you listed are elite though.  Sadly there are very few of those in this draft, but there are a lot of good players in the late first and into the second. We need to realize that we can't get all our needs in this year's draft.  We know we need some sort of edge, a safety, and I feel we need to use one of first 4 picks on a CB, preferably 3rd at latest.  And I want to draft an OT in 3rd to learn behind Moton this year. The extra 2nd would be huge.  2 things Bear Hands has noted in other threads, we can get a rusher in the mid rounds of the first, and if a good LT is available at our pick we should be able to get a deal. I'm ok.  If the media takes are close, trading back to around 15 should get us a second, and since our second is near the end of that round, getting one earlier opens up a whole lot of opportunities.  Either way, Canales builds his infrastructure with this draft.  Next year, with all our picks and probably picking somewhere between 10 and 15, we can get real stars.   All of this depends on hitting on picks this year.
    • You got the gist of his main issue. He plays LB or whatever on D, but hates to tackle and contact. That's the summary.  I normally have a wide margin of " Hey vet min/bring him for try out/maybe he changed/etc etc". But he can not be trusted, * but he did just have his "best" season. He's like those RB that refuse to run between the tackles, bounce everything outside...they too are scared of contact. That's like the whole point of NFL, he's able to trick and athlete his way for 5 years, props to him and his agent.  Me personally I view him like virus, I wouldn't want him on film shying away from hitting while the rookies&UDFA are looking for how the Panthers do things. Plus Im the biggest sucker there is about giving former 1st, 2nd, etc another chances. Just not someone who doesn't want to play NFL and fools those with his god given gifts.  ____________________________________________________________   \ Not to add another layer to this, but I feel contact and hitting its the biggest problem for the NFL. I sorta agree with TEs, WRs, and RBs either going out of bounds or falling to the ground to avoid a solid hit(this goes out the window for 1st downs, SB, etc.) Like if a WR caught a deep slant and already gained 17 yards, but here comes a safety with a great angle, Im all for that WR to fall on the ground...... ugh...... But I think the opposite for my defense. I feel this topic is central sun hot and NFL has done a great job in avoiding it. Im surprised NFL is still allowed, I have huge doubts in the future.
    • not sure if carolina picks a WR in this draft, they have some young WR already and will let them develop. Need another vet imo.  I think carolina is going to pass more to the RB's this coming season, look for them to move heaven and earth for Cam Skatteboo.  I really hope they go TE Warren in the 1st. That would add another dynamic to this offense.
