Does anyone know why DT was so infatuated with Young? Why he liked him over stroud? Its obvious he preferred him but i’m not sure why…

Guys like Tepper are spread sheet warriors, buying companies on PE ratios, earnings, EBITDA, etc, he uses his analysis more than his "gut"

His analysis with that dumb S2 report showed Young as an "elite" player

If you would use your eyes and just watched Young dice up Georgia, you knew he was pro ready.

Alabama SEVERELY masked Bryce Young, they didn't win because of him, they won WITH him, put Young at UCLA or Duke and he doesn't elevate either program.

I think Tepper thought the S2 test was some kind of QB evaluation cheat tool and he convinced himself that QB was such a cerebral position that actual physical talent took a distant backseat to mental ability. Unfortunately, there are physical prerequisites. There are plenty of guys who weren't very good QBs as players who have become very good coaches. It wasn't a lack of mental ability, they didn't have the physical ability.

the better and bigger question is why does it matter what someone with zero football experience ‘prefers’?

the problem with Tepper isn’t what he prefers it’s that is that he thinks he matters and his opinion has value despite absolutely zero knowledge or experience

Alabama better this year without Young. Actually he was one of the worst from a win/loss title perspective of all Saban's qbs.

Saban is a top 2 or 3 all time college coach. The guy knows how to get players ready to win college football games.  QB in the NFL is a completely different animal.

He's a square and quiet.

Tepper wants a certain image and Bryce fits it.

Complete opposite of Cam Newton. He was flashy with a funky hairstyle. Young is a choir boy, polite, and not loud.

Unfortunately, that's not enough to play and win in the NFL

    • I think anyone player could improve that's young and coachable. It's how much. XL hasn't shown much IMO. He seems kind of dim and that's a bad match for a guy that needs to work on the mental side of his game. The body catching is concerning for a possession type reciver. He was just never a good prospect IMO. We will see but I not wasting much hope on him until I see something worth hoping for. Morgan was an AGM on the same team that promoted him so I give zero slack to a guy thst should have already been very familiar with the situation. Again, I think it's his MO at this point and I'm not expecting a hige turnaround. He is still beating his same lame drum from last year. It could happen but I'll take the odds on it not happening. I also think that is his personality. Just keep banging away and it will get better, just like it did when he was a player. I just don't think GM is a good fit for him but he could be a great guy to have in  an organization, just not at the top. The guys in the middle were better but they also are not home runs. Solid but not enough talent IMO. Having missed so hard where there was heaps of talent and having to rely on the next level guys isn't a knock on them personally but just coming up short overall. The best rookie was an UDFA who usually sign where they think they have a shot. Every team needs studs and support. They got some solid support in thr mid rounds but none of it looked more than support unless something changes drastically. Hurney wasn't a good GM. His best quality was getting out of the way and letting coaches pick their guys in the first. The more input he had the worst the team was, from contracts  to drafting to team building. The team had more success when he was just a facilitator and not pushing to get his guys or do it his way. I just haven't seen anything from Morgan that's more than bearly average.
