We need a goalie.

We don’t have the cap space to take his contract. Plus the jets are good so why let him go? He’s at what 6.75M? Nah.

I’d say bring Perets up LTIR Raanta and make Pyotr #1 at least until Christmas.

Don’t we have the cap space now that Freddie is out?  Also, if you IR Raanta that will open up more space. I bet wads could make it work.

Won’t help next year. 5M is our max if we bring a goalie in and that’s a hell of a lot for a goalie. Who isn’t named Saros, Vas, Shesterkin or Sorokin. We need to let our Russian get his chance to loose the net.

SAT line needs to be a thing even though Tripp has been pushing the Svech-Aho non-chemistry narrative. I call BS. I don’t see us retaining Necas in the offseason. Let him go spend time on 4.

The canes were at their best when the SAT line was a thing. Plus I call BS to. That Vegas OT game two years again, AHO To Svech for the game winner was beautiful. Also, Svech stuck up for aho on the ice against the rangers this year. Sometimes the players are just better in game Vs practice. Remember x-clown with Smitty?

pretty frustrating that we can point out the weaknesses way before the season begins and those weaknesses then show up again. We knew that we needed better goaltending in the offseason. We got the best out of Raanta and Anderson and we gambled that it would continue into this year which it didnt. Now we have to scramble to find another option to pair with pytor who may or may not even be ready to be a goalie 1 yet.

Did he say something, or just practice observations?

Haven’t listened to the post practices yet. But Rod AND Staals mentality post game was the writing is very much on the wall. As for Raants nobody said anything changed at any position which leads the the assumption of Raants is still 1A. Hopefully canes_pr will put out the post-practice interview soon.

The way this season started and after last night's debacle, if this were many other teams in the league, RBA might be out of a job.

I'd really like to know what went on during the 3rd period that RBA thought it was a good idea to leave Raanta.

Maybe RBA was sending a message to the entire squad. Maybe he thought it better to let them get embarrassed than to intervene.

Paul Coffey might be a good choice.

    • I don't really like the phrase, "moral victory". I get what's meant by it, but does that mean that if you do the opposite (play poorly but win) it's an immoral victory? 🤔
    • I blame Evero because he is overrated. Vance Joseph created the defense in Denver that he took credit for. Wilks ran the ball down his throat and Darnold had a 103.8 rtg.  Last year we were decent in yards allowed, and horrible in everything else. Only reason? We kept giving up good field position.  He's had his choice of players to bring in since his scheme is so "complicated." Maybe he should stop trying to be so fancy like running Cover 4 on 3rd and 1 earlier and focus on fundamentals like tackling. These years of Eric Washington, Phil Snow, and Evero must have gotten you confused on what a real defense looked like. Go back and watch the McDermott and Wilks years- this dude is sofT.
    • I tried to make it a point in the opening post that I don't think the offense is a finished product. I think we still need more talent at WR, better play calling, catch more consistently, elimate ridiculous penalties,  and be more consistency in scoring points. I'm just saying, they look markedly better than last year imo. They have scored 20 or more in 6 games and 30 or more in 2 games. And that's particularly notable considering they only mustered 10 points and 3 points in first 2 games of this year and they got blanked on 0 points two games in a row to wrap up last season . I'd say that's a market improvement.  I'm not crowning them and saying we have a top 10 offense or anything.  I'm comparing them to themselves in recent history.
