Based strictly on their Panthers career up to this point, ho

 1 Cam Newton

2 Jake Delhomme

3 Vinny Testaverde

4 Steve Beuerlein

5 Matt Moore

6 Kerry Collins

7 Teddy Bridgewater

8 Rodney Peete

9 PJ Walker

10 Taylor Heinicke

11 Derek Anderson

12 Randy Fasani

13 Chris Weinke (great teammate/backup)

14 David Carr (front flip = +5 spots)

15 Kyle Allen

16 Brian St. Pierre (🖕from Foxy to JR)

17 Andy Dalton

18 Sam Darnold

19 Matt Lytle (who?!?)

20 Baker Mayfield

21 Jimmy Clausen (got us Cam = +1)

22 Bryce Young

23 Will Grier

24 Frank Reich (coaching career included)

25 2025 1st overall pick (you know we'll fug it up)

I'd move Kyle Allen up to #6 as sad as that sounds lol he has more wins yards and touchdowns than anyone under him at #6 and God we have really only ever had three good QBs and one was for just a year.

Moore and Darnold have more wins, Teddy has more yards. Honestly those four were the hardest to rank off the whole list. Like their best stretch of football they were good enough game managers, but crumbled once there was more pressure out on their shoulders.

So did PJ Walker…

I’ve always said PJ Walker is every bit as good as Sam Darnold.  If you didn’t know their draft status they would be the same tier QB.

and in a Panther ranking I would put PJ ahead of Darnold.

Vinny at #3 with 6 starts, 2-4 record and 5 TD vs 6 INTs? Taylor Heinicke top 10 with only one start?

Look I don’t like Darnold either, but PJ and his 5 TDs vs 11 picks weren’t better than him, I’m sorry.

The ranking of Darnold, Moore, Allen were so close because to me they are all the same guy (although completely different draft pedigree in Sams case). Pretty decent if all their surrounding cast were prefect, but you’re screwed if they have to carry your team. I only ranked Sam higher because they were at least in a playoff race with him. For the people that wanted another year of Sam after looking at how he finished last year, I compared that stretch to Moores end of 2009 season and his fans got really mad.

Same tier QB. And yeah, and if you rank them you put the dude with a winning record over  the course of 3 years when he was called upon ahead of Sam Darnold.

I weigh the starts more heavily than total career numbers.  They are both bad backup caliber QBs. You insert PJ into a game that is already lost and I don’t really care about those bad numbers.  He is a bad gunslinger.  What you want PJ to do down double digits inserted late? Play smart?  That’s pointless IMO.  Go down in a blaze of horrific glory.  Which he often did lol.  Think he had 3 picks late in one of those games.

I don't care how long you played, but what you did with that time.

As far as Vinny T... maybe you just had to be there, so to speak. The old man left it all out on the field for us! He'll always be a legend in my book.

So yours is more of a favorite players list. I mean I respect Vinny because he came off the couch to play and he probably shouldn’t have but to say he contributed more than Steve Beuerlein just doesn’t seem right.

    • Easily. To be able to plug in a backup LT without much drop off from your starter? That could mean the difference between playoffs or sitting at home in January. Good/serviceable smart young and healthy LTs that won’t lose you a ball game at reasonable $$ don’t just come along every day. Picture next year… the team is scrappy and competitive, 4 and 3 record, second place in the South. Morale is good. devastating run game that Let’s our marginal defense get plenty of rest. We play the Bucs and win, going to 5 and 3, but we lose Ickey to a high ankle sprain. Atl loses that week and are now at 5 and 3 as well. There is no Ickey and no BC because we let him go… and we go in to Atl the next week for a battle of first in the south. Week after that is the Jets…. Now they lose both by 10 and 3, respectively, and fall to 5 and 5 going in to their bye week. Atl is at 7 and 3. Out of typical Panthers desperation, they try to rush Ickey back in to the lineup with a saints game coming up…  Back to good old Panthers football, always playing catchup. Another season at .500 and the fans sadly rejoice in mediocrity, when playoffs were in reach. This team always overestimates its ability to pick up quality o line depth in the draft or FA and it always blows up in their faces. Like Chuba, I see him as being part of the core that Dan is trying to build. Work on his contract now and see if we can come out with something mutually beneficial. I’d consider 3 yrs at $25m to be very fair.
    • it would be great to have "double trouble" again, I even had a T- shirt for Williams and Stewart and the double trouble logo, was a great time to be Panthers fan. We shall see...
    • Sounds like a plan. Those are the teams we should be mimicking! lol
