Fallout: New Vegas

Bethesda has the worst software engine in all of gaming.

Pass.

I'll have to disagree with that statement, though I will say that it is outdated and glitchy as hell. They need to concentrate on making a new engine before they make the next Elder Scrolls game...

I can't think of a single current gen game with a worse engine than Bethesda's. Glitchy, poor hit detection, and the controls are absolutely dated 1996. Even Rockstar's horrible engines are better. But Rockstar generally pours sooooooo much content into their games that the controls and flaws aren't as big of an issue.

To me, Elder Scrolls is an example of a fantastic concept limited by software flaws and failed execution.

If they could take their engine and bring it up to par with U3 or Source as far as stability and control, Bethesda could own the world. But they don't, and that's depressing.

Course 90% of everything out there is the Unreal Engine.

EDIT: Oh, and their AI is shitty as fug too.

Amen to that.

I still enjoyed playing Oblivion, but if they don't get their poo together and update their engine to where I don't have to worry abut getting stuck in a wall everywhere I go, I will never buy another Bethesda product.

I love sandbox-style RPG's, but I have never played Elder Scrolls IV. I've heard there are some loading issues that are really annoying. Can someone tell me if it's worth it or not?

for the $15 or something it costs now it's a great game.

Lol original and JRPG is an oxymoron. They come out all the time. Eastern developers suck pretty hardcore, and have for the past 5-10 years.

it's not like western developers are much better, everything is effectively a variation on D&D with different skins and weapons. Making something a sandbox game isn't original or particularly interesting.

This was my biggest problem with Fallout 3, it was a very easy game which in the end really wasn't that big or unique. Effectively a scaled down, re-skinned version of Oblivion. I got much more fun out of 1&2 than I did 3.
