Retooling the offensive approach...

Coaching is the problem.  It has to be.  Moton, Corbett and Bozeman are veterans that have been solid for many years.  Icky had a decent rookie campaign.  How do we go from a solid O-line to trash in one season.

Coaching and Scheme.  This B.S. of bringing Young along slowly has only multiplied the problem.  We never (rarely) throw deep down the field.  Defenses tee off and focus on stopping the running game knowing Young isn't going to throw farther than 5 yards down the field.  We're far too predictable.  Back to Teddy B.  but worse.

Whether it's Reich or Brown or both, where to F is the creativeness?  We run the same boring plays and never do anything to get the defense guessing.

It's been 10 weeks but IMO we need to pull the plug on this "mastermind" coaching staff.

Evero seems to be the only one that is hanging in there.  Considering we are on defense 65-70% of the game and some key players are out of the line-up.  It's abysmal.

Staley, IMO, just dropped him a couple of notches as being one of the next HC in this league.  His convincing Fitterer to bring Sanders was terrible.  I see why Philly didn't fight much to let him walk.

Someone mentioned before.  We went from hard headed defensive minded head coach in Rivera to No f-ing clue in Rhule to Old School stuck in New School Era.

Can Reich and get a Brillant offensive mind in here and see if we can't tie him to Young for many more years.  I'm not ready to give up on him when we suck in so many other areas.

The offensive scheme is so bad that I’m surprised Frank was able to even get this job. It shows how unqualified Tepper is to be involved in the decisions. Pair that awful outdated scheme with drafting an undersized QB with limited physical abilities and you have the worst team in football and maybe franchise history. Man, it’s bleak right now.

What would I suggest? Shifting to a run heavy scheme to utilize the personnel we have on the OL in a manner that suits their skill set and hopefully minimizes the damage done to Bryce Young.

There should already be at least some plays in the playbook geared to this (short yardage plays if nothing else) that could be emphasized more or even tweaked to fit different down and distance situations. Hell, there's certainly time to write new plays even.

At the very least though, the game plans we've been using are not working and those have got to change.

Would it accomplish anything?

Don't know, but it's better than playing out the proverbial  definition of insanity.

Marc Davis fired McDaniels because he had come to the obvious conclusion that the Raiders had quit being the Raiders. And win or lose, being the Raiders meant something.

The Panthers haven't been the Panthers since Tepper took over. The owner can't fire themselves, I guess, but maybe he needs to have the moment of epiphany that Bowl-Cut Billionaire had and realize that teams have an identity and they are at their best when they live up to that.

The Panthers are a linebacker driven team that leans heavy on ball control in the offense. We're a beat you down franchise that depends on a steady, punishing run game and long downfield strikes, or hard after the catch efforts.

We're not a bubble screen team. We're not a WCO pansy-picking, eight yards and out of bounds kind of people. We don't just take what they give us and bend don't break.

We're supposed to Keep Pounding. Not play nice.

It's execution and ill-fit personnel.  Granted there's not a lot of misdirection, motion, exotic looks etc...  but these guys can't even execute the plays effectively and consistently in these basic looks.  I mean if you can't make food in a microwave properly, then you shouldn't be attempting to prepare a scratch four-course meal.

There's so much turnover/change that needs to happen with this offense, it's almost too much of a task to do half way through the season.  This is definitely an offseason overhaul.

Basically do what Wilks did last year when he took over.  It should make our OL look better and give Young some breathing room.  I would cut Reich loose and let Deuce handle the team and this new approach.  If we want to retool and try to fix our running game then Deuce Staley make sense as the guy to head it.

Isn’t Deuce Staley the guy that wanted us to sign Miles Sanders? If that’s the case then someone please cut him loose as well.

Sanders sounds like a Reich guy since he played for the Eagles. I think Staley hyped him up this offseason which has shown to be inaccurate.

I say let Andy run the offense this week or even for 4 weeks to give Bryce some time to watch how it is done. What is it going to hurt. He is regressing as it is and this would let Andy mentor while on the field. Not unless we are losing on purpose to allow the Bears to have the 1st pick in this year draft.

I’d like to win a game.

Can we restore the rule of:  play who gives the best chance to win?

When this new subcapable so far quarterback earns that sentiment from the coaches and teammates, let him be that guy. He hasn’t earned crap it was all given to him.

The abuse of trust is glaring now.. Like, I trust my leader to have my interest at heart which for all players is Win. So win something. Make me think you at least want to.

Play the best player. It is not the little guy.

if dalton plays and we beat dallas then all hell would probably break loose, but I am like you handing the bears the #1 overall pick is going to be a tough look so we need to start winning at some point

I don't think we would have to worry about him beating Dallas but I do think the offense would once again look fairly different. He would open things up.

I mean I keep saying it because it bares repeating. If I told any one of these folks hyping up Bryce Young back in April that we would make it halfway through the season with 1 win and the highest offensive output of the season would be in a loss with Dalton starting I would have been poo'd into oblivion. But people are coping and rationalizing it. Sad.

I thought Reich was the master mind behind the mesh concept? When the hell are they gonna start implementing it?

And I'd play Dalton next week as a sacrificial lamb to Micah. Bryce is gonna get killed if nothing changes. I mean it could ruin him for real. Maybe lose him for the season the way this oline is blocking. Run a stunt and they are lost and confused for the rest of the game.

That's easy.  You go from an inside zone / power running team into a wide zone / West Coast running team.  That's two very different kinds of lineman.  We were built to run people over, and now we're trying to misdirect and outflank.

I don't know what film the coaches looked at when supposedly designing a scheme to fit the players.  It sure doesn't *look* like the scheme fits our players.  At all.

And of course, in typical Panthers fashion, what talent we do have is paper thin.  One or two injuries can derail us.  All because we keep trading away our picks.  Did you know that of our last 10 first round picks, only one (Shaq) is still with us that isn't on a rookie contract?   Yes, some deserve to be gone - Big Vern, KB - but how much better would we look with CMC and DJ on the offensive side?

The worst part about those trades is that we actually paid BOTH of those guys and then traded them.  So we took the big hit for the signing bonus and made the cap hits for them on their new teams much easier to swallow.  It's nuts how bad we've been at roster building.

    • At this rate, maybe he'll be a decent 8-9 QB on his 3rd HC by year 6. Standards are so low around here now. Tepper has done some serious damage to the fan base.
