Where I'm at midseason

When did the rumors about CJ Stroud and Reich come about? I distinctly remember articles where Reich and Fitt were both on Young as the top and I do recall hearing that while Reich liked Young the best, he also liked Richardson a lot before the draft. I remember this because it seemed like Stroud was out of the equation really early whether or not McCown wanted to play hoops with him. It seems to me that Reich preferring Stroud didn’t happen until well into the season after Young was meh, Richardson got hurt the first time and Stroud had a few great games, when the seats starting getting warm.

I truly don’t think Tepper forced Young on everybody. His point guard quotes came a couple months after Brown’s point guard mentions and as you said, Fitt in the draft process mentioning they had already zeroed in on Young a year before the draft and Fitt and Reich crowed about how sync they were at the start and end of their decisions again with no mention of Tepper at that point. People jumped on Tepper’s post draft interview explaining the choice of Young and the trading of Moore, which IMHO was spitting back out the reasonings Fitt and Co. gave him. Even the meetings with Frank were no big deal to me because that to me was a come to Jesus of why are we worse than Rhule and Wilks when he was promised a contender now that we had our QB.

That said, I don’t want Tepper making any future decisions either. Between Hurney staying, Rhule and Fitt hiring and Fitt staying, he’s bungled they key calls. If he’s helped out on personnel decisions, well he’s sucked there too.

I think a couple of folks have already responded as far as where the rumors came from.

But again, this is an area where we don't fully know what's going on. That's why I posted a couple of different possibilities

Can you explain why you're so calm on Frank?

You wanted Wilks gone ASAP but yet you think a HC who has won 1 game needs more time. Just doesn't make any sense to me. Curious to why you seem stuck in the Frank bandwagon.

I've already said it in another post in this thread.  Frank was dealt a pretty crappy hand and he's having to make the best of it. He's not blameless, but the scouting department, GM and owner has given him one hell of a mountain to climb.

Wilks wasn't a bad interim coach, but I don't think he's a great HC.  He's best as a coordinator.  Say what you will at his gig for the Cardinals, but if you think he failed because of his surroundings, then it would be ignorant not to give Frank a pass given very similar circumstances.

Here are the potential dynamics of the draft decision and what they mean:

Tepper made or influenced the decision: Then what's the point of firing anybody if they were just doing what the owner wanted?

Fitterer made or influenced the decision: This is the one condition where it would make sense to fire Fitterer.

The decision was made collaboratively: Again, who do you fire when everybody came to the decision together? Everyone? And then let David Tepper rebuild the team from scratch? Oh hell, no.

Which of these is reality? No idea, but again that's why I would want to see somebody brought in to look over all of it.

Maybe not a direct idea of what's happening, but there's been some signs. Tepper has made it well known, and it's well documented, that his influence is in the building. When you have your boss breathing down your neck, the likelihood of you making good decisions goes down, especially when he has no idea about running a football team. It doesn't make a difference if it was a collaboration or not. What could Tepper possibly have asked at the dinner with Bryce that was relevant to his ability on a football field? Yet after that meeting, he looked to just be going through the motions with the other candidates.

The key point is Tepper is involved in decision making. If you need more proof, just look at his wife having to complete a course so she could be involved. She made the call to trade for DJ Johnson. In what NFL universe is she qualified to be involved? Dave and Nicole are role playing as NFL execs and in the process, running this franchise and it's fan base into the ground.

Frank will be fired after next season. A new QB will be drafted again. D&T will have their hands all in it. We'll keep losing. Eventually, no real coach or FO personnel is going to want to come here because it will be committing career suicide.

Our only hope is that eventually the owners force him to sell the team because putting this bad of a product on the field year in and year out is bad for their profit sharing because the Panthers are unwatchable and aren't bringing in the profits, or, they get tired of NFL Exec cosplay and find something else to occupy their time. Either way, it's going to be painful to be a Panthers fan for a long time.

I definitely think Tepper influenced the decision.

I mean this with all due respect to women but it’s quite obvious when they are happy and when they are upset. Nicole Tepper’s vibe and personality was different around Young.

Now, I’m not saying Nicole had a say in the choice because if she did it was minimal. But I will say that David Tepper most likely wanted Young which in turn caused Nicole to want Young. Nicole just acted different around Bryce than she did C.J., so at the very least that leads me to believe that the Tepper’s as a whole wanted Young.

I do think Reich and McCown wanted Young.

Now we get to Fitterer, did Fitterer want Young or Stroud… If he wanted Young whether on his own accord or because he was being a yes man, the result will be the same, he’ll be fired. If he wanted Stroud then I don’t think anyone we’ll get fired which leads me to my next point.

Will this be the eye opening experience that causes David Tepper to realize that he doesn’t need to be involved in football personnel decisions or will he just try to fix it by spending more money on different coaches and general managers.

I truly don’t think this organization will sniff success until the Tepper’s are hands off.

If he wants to see how a proper billionaire runs his team he can travel on up to Raleigh and meet with Tom Dundon.

I hear Nicole Tepper tied to Young a lot but I don't know that it's valid. She had a pretty good connection with CJ Stroud as well, to the point that he referred to her as Mama Tepp.

On the whole though, it's hard to sort through the rumors

I will say that aside from the warranted chewing out of the referee of that idiotic RTP call in first half, every single time Reich is shown on camera this season he is just staring off in to space by himself.

yesterday was particularly bad, he had somber, dead eyes and looked 100% defeated. Like he just got some very bad news.

I couldn't make it past the first point of Frank not wanting Bryce.  OP is a conspiracy theorist that refuses to listen facts and thinks he knows it all.   I know this is true because the OP told me what this type garbage being talked about really is.

OR.....maybe he is the only one that can engage in it.

Frank had a full off-season. Wilks was the one who had to take over mid season to clean up behind Rhule.

No disrespect to Frank but I knew just from the preseason this guy was the wrong hire. I'm sorry but he's not cut for this kind of role anymore. He's 60+ and usually when you get that age your time is coming to a end. I don't see a long-term plan with him so I rather we just cut bait and save ourselves some wasted time.

You're putting way to much effort into this dumpster fire. That write up had to take you at least an hour.  Just devolve into shitting on tepper and fitterer like the rest of us

Nah...Voice to text makes it easy.

Mind you, it also makes it easy to make glaring mistakes that I don't see you until the editing window is closed 😣

Okay, show me a significant difference.  One thing, can't blame the organization.  This is purely on coaching.

Frank Reich is a really, really bad head coach. It’s obvious to anyone who isn’t a jock sniffer. That doesn’t mean he is a bad person. But he is worse than Ruhle. The entire coaching staff needs to be gutted.

I mean, Frank isn't worse than Rhule.  But Frank Reich, Jim Caldwell, and Dom Capers aren't rockstars.  They are what the NFL is moving past and away from.   And we ran to that type old suckage because we overcompensated after the Matt Rhule disaster.    and the book on them is long, old and outdated.
