There is someone on the coaching or scouting staff who badly wanted CJ Stroud who is going to randomly get fired because he said “I told you so”

We all know it’s a disaster season and Bryce Young is awful. No way to slice it folks, his stats and play on the field has been grade F bad.

Meanwhile the QB picked one pick after Bryce Young is playing very well and setting rookie QB records. I think many of us saw a lot more potential in him than in diminutive Bryce Young. Including some on the staff, I’m sure. Given David Tepper’s video about Bryce being a “point guard” and distributing the ball, some nonsense like that, there had to be some detractors on the staff who wanted Stroud instead. Maybe it goes all the way up to Reich. I could see him preferring Stroud who had more of a prototype QB size and skill set.

Either way I have a feeling as the Panthers inevitably fail their way into a 6th straight losing season that we will see at least some lower level scout or coach randomly fired because they speak up about how dumb it was to draft Bryce Young. And good for them to get out of a hell hole job on a franchise that you won’t have a prosperous career anyway. Working for the Panthers has been a horrible career move as of late.

Most of the people that work for Tepper seem like paycheck first type people. Until he creates the pressure from blindly raging while giving a need to open up I fully expect them to just keep collecting checks.

And I don’t blame them one bit. You want to cut me a large check every week to sit here and agree with your dumbass by all means dig your grave.

I don’t think a lot of these guys are good at their jobs regardless of Tepper’s involvement but during their interviews at their next opportunity it will be pretty easy to blame Tepper for a lot of the bad.

The whole CJ Stroud thing is even funnier when you know he was 3rd on their list. So they missed really bad just like they did with Teddy then Sam then Baker then Corral. We would’ve 100% taken AR had we not drafted Bryce.

When you list everything that’s gone wrong since Tepper has taken over from signings to trades to coaching hires this organization would’ve failed with Stroud too, no doubt in my mind. Sadly this whole Bryce/CJ thing really doesn’t matter. Our biggest problem is David and Nicole and they’re not going anywhere.

So there really isn’t a solution sadly

Not me. I hate wasting my life on a check working for an destructive idiot. I 100% get it and respect that choice to take that money but it's not for everyone. I also have never been locked into a contract so it's easy for me to say, i can just go look for another job and jump ship while they can't. That's hard for me tonaccept because I value freedom above pay, as much as I can grab for myself.

You are dead on about the situation. I still think something breaks and leaks a little again as Tepper applies more presure to 'fix' the issues. The last time he did people were talking a lot about what was in the grapevine. There really doesn't look to be any relief from the Teppers problem any time soon.

Oh 100% this is going to keep getting worse because of Tepper. I hope they get embarrassed Thursday night in Chicago. Tepper is never going to figure this out and he’s not selling so maybe multiple seasons of 1-16 football will eventually make him realize he knows literally nothing

Also, Baker has 12 touchdowns to 4 interceptions this season. Baker looked like he wouldn’t make a CFL team while playing here. Baker is proving just how incompetent this organization is. Which is why I can’t write Bryce off. However, as long as Bryce is here I think it’s safe to assume nothing is going to change for him. For the sake of Young’s career he needs to get the hell out of here

There is zero 'how do we make this work' mentality and it's always 'this is the new way' BS since Tepper came. That was the one huge positive Wilks showed and no one recognized it or valued it. I'm with you. Bryce is screwed here at best. I was never a fan of him but even I can see he is just another symptom of the Tepper problem around here.

Yeah… I wanted no part of Wilks moving forward but at least we had an identity. Granted we didn’t have a QB so maybe we lucked out into becoming this downhill old school run first team? Regardless it was something. It’s surprising this “all star” staff completely ditched that scheme given the success we were having. Instead we’re having our QB drop back 40 times a game and letting defenses tee off on him.

I think the majority of this board/fan base wanted Stroud which makes this that much more of a piss off but If you put Bryce in Houston right now there’s no way we’re having this bust talk. Is he putting up CJ numbers? No. But he sure as hell doesn’t look like this. I don’t know how much football other than Carolina you watch but man, this team is honestly so freaking bad. Nothing comes easy. Ever.

Just off the top of my head there were 3 times where we picked up positive yards on 1st down. Only to go backwards and be sitting 3rd and long. 2 times due to penalties and the other due to a 4 yard loss on a handoff. That’s high school like crap.

This team lacks talent. This team is poorly coached. The worst part is this staff isn’t playing to the strength of what little talent this roster does have.

I can’t even get mad anymore when I watch this crap because it’s that bad

Looking at what Baker Mayfield did here vs what he’s doing in TB should speak far louder than the same posters who say “Bryce is the worst QB since Jeff Lewis,” “Darnold is the worst QB since Jimmy Clausen,” “Baker is the worst QB since Randy Fasani,” “Teddy is the worst QB since Dameyune Craig”

There’s one common thread: Tepper.

Oh, don't get me wrong, Tepper is THE problem. But moves like drafting Bryce Young and hiring the people who did it are why he's the problem.

Rookie QB or not good enough filler, the results have been the same except under Wilks with the mentality of calling it what it is and not what they wish it is. And I wanted none of Wilks long term but he was dead on in that basic approach.

I'm not so sure on Bryce in Houston. A bump in play? Sure. He is just so limited and to set him up requires so much more than a Stroud. Our oline falling apart to accomidate him is example #1. I think he can do better but his limitations also are very real. I see no real reason to respect our run game in this scheme and roster build. It looks built for Bryce at the expense of the rest of the roster IMO.

The lack of talent is another multiplier of the other issues. It's so bad and them playing away from their roster's strengths makes it so much worse.

I'm past mad and into just making fun of it. Tepper is the one I save anger for and I am fine watching him eat dookie while he continues on with his failures.

I think the only offensive coach I can think of that hasn't defended the Young draft pick publicly recently is Josh McCown.  He gave Bryce praise early on, like in OTAs and camp, but has been quiet since.  I think Stroud was his guy.  I think Stroud was Frank's guy.  Bryce was Tepper's guy as soon as he laid eyes on those S2 exam results.  Fitts was in arse saving mode and wanted what his boss wanted.

I think dave and nicole liked him early on and needed a benchmark justification to point to because he didnt throw at the combine and floated his passes at the pro day.  So they focused on the infamous dinner where he supposedly blew the people away at the table.  If it looks like bullshit and smells like bullshit it probably is bullshit.

Fitt and reich made the trade immediately after the combine where stroud put on a show but then they say it was young all along.  Bull fuging poo.

fug you dave and fug you nicole because I know you are reading this

    • Easily. To be able to plug in a backup LT without much drop off from your starter? That could mean the difference between playoffs or sitting at home in January. Good/serviceable smart young and healthy LTs that won’t lose you a ball game at reasonable $$ don’t just come along every day. Picture next year… the team is scrappy and competitive, 4 and 3 record, second place in the South. Morale is good. devastating run game that Let’s our marginal defense get plenty of rest. We play the Bucs and win, going to 5 and 3, but we lose Ickey to a high ankle sprain. Atl loses that week and are now at 5 and 3 as well. There is no Ickey and no BC because we let him go… and we go in to Atl the next week for a battle of first in the south. Week after that is the Jets…. Now they lose both by 10 and 3, respectively, and fall to 5 and 5 going in to their bye week. Atl is at 7 and 3. Out of typical Panthers desperation, they try to rush Ickey back in to the lineup with a saints game coming up…  Back to good old Panthers football, always playing catchup. Another season at .500 and the fans sadly rejoice in mediocrity, when playoffs were in reach. This team always overestimates its ability to pick up quality o line depth in the draft or FA and it always blows up in their faces. Like Chuba, I see him as being part of the core that Dan is trying to build. Work on his contract now and see if we can come out with something mutually beneficial. I’d consider 3 yrs at $25m to be very fair.
    • it would be great to have "double trouble" again, I even had a T- shirt for Williams and Stewart and the double trouble logo, was a great time to be Panthers fan. We shall see...
    • Sounds like a plan. Those are the teams we should be mimicking! lol
