Can Everett Browne Do This?

I think E. Brown is going to be a great DE for us. Obviously he still has some growing to do but he has the right attitude to be great. He has alot of talent, maybe not as much as Peppers but as a pass rusher Brown can eventually bring the heat as good as Pep can. I have no doubt that he will get stronger and better. I feel like we will see a big leap in him next season. Charles Johnson is who I'm waiting on, he is a physical freak as well and he has shown flashes but he hasn't emerged just yet.

After seeing Pep and Brown on the field together at the latter part of last season, the FO would be crazy to not bust ass to keep Pep here. Those two are corner stones to Meeks scheme because we get pressure without blitzing and that is irreplaceable.

I dont see what else the FO could do to keep Peppers here. Peppers has made it pretty clear he does not want to be here.

I do not see it fair to compare Brown vs Peppers....I know you didnt but others have. Brown was a raw rookie , who I think will be a great player.

There is no reason to compare him to Peppers

At any fair price, Peppers is not replaceable. But if the only way the Panthers can keep him here is to franchise him during a capped year, then he can't be kept at a fair price.

Here's a question for you, which would you rather have:

1) A 30+ year old Julius Peppers for 20 million dollars. 1/6th of our total salary cap for 53 players.

OR

2) Always fresh Pass rushing Everette Brown on 3rd downs at no additional cost.

PLUS

Another run blocking DE for 5-15 mill.

PLUS

An every down LB for 5-15 mill. Great blitzing for more money.

Plan 1 means we're one injury away from a total loss of 20 mill.

Plan 2 means we're one injury away from losing only 1/3 of 20 mill.

When we drafted Everette Brown, including giving up pics to move up for him, we made a clear choice and committment.

The CBA is a major factor in all of this. If the Panthers strongly believe an uncapped year is imminent, all the rules on player pay change. In this case, paying Peppers 20 mill is of no concern whatsoever.
