At least Davis has the real balls to do what needs to be done - admit his mistake and cut his losses.

This is what the brass balls guy needs to do with Reich and Fit

Balls aren't much good without brains.

Unless Davis goes outside for help, the next GM and coach will still be his pick.

(and probably be lousy...again)

Firing a coach that quickly would make the ownership look insane. Expectations are pretty low for a first year coach and a rookie QB no matter who they are.

I’d rather give Evero a chance at HC than Reich but it’s par for the course to give someone in Reich’s position at least 2 years

Never liked or agreed with that approach. If something clearly isn’t working in the real working world you will be fired immediately.
If we improve and start piling on wins then I will agree that Reich should be given 2 years. But if the wheels start falling off again and it is obvious it isn’t working then keeping him another season is pointless.
No coach should be guaranteed two year, ever.

This is what that approach gets you.

Football doesn't work like real world businesses, at least not established ones. It's closer to a start up that you have to get off the ground...repeatedly.

Firing coaches after one or two years and thinking that will make you a winner is pretty much like guaranteeing your wealth and success by buying a lottery ticket.

    • If you think Smith's hating on McMillian or tall recievers you didn't watch the video. He may have been guilty of that in the past but he says outright that his problem is people see a tall reciever and tend to overlook everything else about him. He was complimentary and believes the guy will pan out. His only real criticism was comparing Tetairoa to himself actually, saying like he felt like he took plays off when he wasn't the primary target.
    • I loved this draft. I think we have 3 starters out our first three picks. Maybe they take a year to develop but I don’t see them taking long.    I think Etiene is going to be a good back up. He’s only 20 so he has a lot to improve on.  I think we will see him be used on special teams this year. He won’t get many reps unless an injury happens because we got two 1,000 yard rb in front of him. I could see Ransom starting but I think he will probably be a back up, maybe playing special teams? I think hes probably got the lowest ceiling of all our drafted players. Cam Jackson will be a back up, probably not a lot of snaps this year. Could end up being a solid player for us.   I love the Mitchell Evans pick. He’s got potential to be our top TE. He had two different injuries that set him back in college but I think if he was healthy he would have been one of the top TE in the draft. I have even more faith in him because ND makes great tight ends. I don’t know if he will play much this year unless an injury happens though. Probably just a blocking TE this year.
