Let him walk will be better for us longterm.

yes conflicting. 1 report from inside panthers us says that Peppers' agent believes the panthers are giving peppers the silent treatment and have moved on. Adam Schefter says there is evidence that the Panthers will let him walk but haven't reached a decision.

unless i get deleted, because this thread is not about ESPN.

From Inside the Panthers:

Carey said of the Panthers, "The organization has no idea what Julius' salary requirement would be at this point because they haven't asked."

Carey said Peppers was "open to hearing" from the Panthers after the regular season, but "because he has not heard from them, then he has to start looking forward to the likely scenario that he will enter free agency, and he’s excited about that."

Carey reiterated that the Panthers "have not made a single inquiry this offseason regarding Julius and the possibility of him having a future with the franchise. At this point, we do not expect to hear from them.

"We have treated the organization with professionalism, cordinality and respect thoughout the past eight years and we’re proud of that."

Carey said the Panthers' silence this year is a marked change from last year, when the two sides were in frequent communication even after Peppers said in January 2009 that he wanted to move to another team.

Peppers has a team record 81 sacks in eight seasons and recently was named to the NFL's All-Decade team. He is playing tonight in his fifth career Pro Bowl.

If Peppers indeed becomes an unrestricted free agent, he'd likely become the most marketable player at his position to hit the open market since Reggie White.

"Julius is looking forward to free agency and feels he is just now entering his prime," said Carey. "He has an incredibly bright future ahead of him. As he opens the next chapter of his life and his career, Julius wants to thank the Carolina fans and let them know their support has meant a lot to him over the years."

Am I the only one that doesn't really care if Peppers is here next year or not? I don't know when fan opinion swung so far back to his side (maybe it was because he had a few great games late in the season when it didn't matter?), but I'm not going to be too concerned if we let him walk.

It really won't be the end of the world people. I promise.

there is honestly no way for us to know what the Panthers are thinking. I simply don't see a scenario happening that doesn't involve us signing Peppers, whether it be franchising and trading, or getting a long term deal written up.

I'm just tired of the guessing game, luckily the franchise tag window is coming up soon, so we'll find out soon enough. Just remember, Titans let Haynesworth go and look at what happened to him. Titans would have still had a successful season without him IF they had started Vince Young at the beginning. I have enough confidence in our other players that losing Peppers wouldn't make me panic. Still want to see him retire a panther, though.

How is this all Hurney's fault? Granted he paid Gross, Jake, & Gamble a little more than they should have, but I blame more on Pep or at least his agent with demanding more than we could afford. It like he put a handcuffs on the team. Not to mention Pep haven't made up his mind before he signed the tender & that why we gave away our 2010 Draft 1st round pick to get Brown. If Pep already made up his mind before the Draft last year, we might not gotten Brown then. Franchising him again will make it hard for us to get some players in FA & Drafts. I just don't know if we can afford that. :(

yeah...its not the GMs fault:smilielol5:
