Why did Delhomme suck so bad this year?

You mean the 8-8 Texans that stomped a mudhole on us? Jake had a good game because Steve Smith had 3 circus stunt catches including that long one where he escaped the whole Texans defense. That was all Steve Smith not Jake. But Ill give him credit, he did a great job against two terrible teams and a mediocre one that stomped us in 07. The fact is, Jake hasnt had a good season since 2005.

Saying that Jake could have gone without Smith is impossible.

2004:

310-533 passing

3886 yards

29 TD

15 int

87.3 rating.

No Smith for 15.25 games.

Jake was never good.

vs. Dallas 273 yards, 1 TD

vs. St. Louis 290 yards, 1 TD, 1 int

vs. New England 323 yards, 3 TD

vs. Chicago 319 yards 3 TD, 1 int

ALL playoff games.

And apparently "never" doesn't include pre 2005 NFC Championship game, when this was published:

"Carolina's Jake Delhomme is the best playoff quarterback in football today. He's 5-1 in the postseason, with just one of those games coming at home. He has a 108.4 postseason passer rating, tops among active quarterbacks, and his 1.27 INT rate in the playoffs is the best of all time."

Honestly, "best of all time" is pretty good for a guy who was never good, isn't it?

Who gives a sh!t about playoff stats, if you can't get to them,.....repeatedly!

During the regular season, you are playing the rest of the league. Playoffs, you are playing the same lucky SOB's that are as lucky to get there as the next team.

That is some stupid whack ass poo to hang anything on.

Oh yeah....and once he got there, and to the big one(the one time he did).....did he leave with a W???????????

Check out that stat, and get back to me.

He played very well against the 3-13 rams and the 4-12 falcons. Whoopdeedoo! Most Qbs would have a good year if they played those teams every game.

Funny, but we lost to a crappy team like the Bills this year with Jake as the starter. You fail to recognize that. Beside, wouldn't the worst QB in the NFL as some call it here lost to the Falcons & Rams?

Haven't we got to the Playoffs repeatedly under Fox, Jake, Smitty, etc.?? :P

Dan Marino was one of the best QB of all time & he leave with a loss too. Does this make him a terrible QB as well? We almost won the SB with Jake though if it wasn't for Fox's bonehead call for 2 points that failed & Kasay missing the field goal that would've given us a tie in the SB.

Man, those games against the Falcons and Rams were 2-3 years ago. He's possibly the worst qb in the league, now...

I give the man credit though. He's been good to our franchise for some years, helped lead us to the playoffs, 2 championship games, and a SB, yada yada yada. All that was in the past though, you cant keep looking at past accomplishments. His time is just up now, atleast with Carolina.

LMAO! You just further proved my point with that one statement right here! Jake single handedly cost us that game. Just because he was able to beat some scrub teams 3 years ago that means he's pretty good?

I was arguing the fact that Jake 1) was good without Smith and 2) was good at one point.

I used playoff games to point out that Jake was good when it mattered most. I recognize the fact that his last two playoff games consist of two garbage time TDs and 8 interceptions. I was saying the statement "Jake was never good" is incorrect.

Jake was never great. But to say he was never good is absurd.

We did not lose that Super Bowl game because of Jake. Jake had over 200 yards passing in the fourth quarter alone. Pretty good considering our defense couldn't get off the field in the fourth quarter. If anyone wants to argue that Jake lost the Super Bowl, the only thing they can realistically say is that he was too good - the defense could not rest because we scored too quickly down the stretch.

I'd put the blame more on that timeout we called before our last touchdown, the two failed two point conversions and not getting any pressure on Brady.
