How did we go from 7 wins last year to winless this?

Did we really lose that many great players? Was DJ Moore a generational WR?

No team is ever the same from season to season. This is especially true when you have the amount of turnover that we had from coaching, players, scheme, all of it. Every team starts from scratch when in the offseason. Is that an excuse for us being 0-6? Of course not because there is no blueprint to success in this league, every team has to find their own way. That's why you have teams that over achieve and under achieve every year its not always a black and white straight forward trajectory for every team. Just have to hope this staff can start to gel and string some wins together before the end of the season

We focus so much on Bryce and the offense because of what we gave up and who our coach is, that we sometimes lose sight of the big picture.  Bryce deserves some criticism, he also deserves some time to figure it out.  So far it doesn't look good, but he's here for at least this season and next, so we must continue to hope he figures it out.

HOWEVER.

Here is the piece we keep missing:

We are one of the worst teams in the league at preventing points.  We have a rookie QB who is going to make mistakes and generally be less effective - witness Andy Dalton.  In that case, we need our defense to REALLY stand up and be accounted for.  And ours is doing just the opposite.

Some of that we should have expected.  The coaches and team say all the right things about having the personnel they need to implement a 3-4.  But the truth is when you switch systems like that, you're going to have problems until you get guys who are adept at playing that system.

Oh, and let's not for get this:

Three defensive starters on IR, as well as a couple rotational pieces.  That's a big deal.

You talk about logic and research yet you want to live on a hypothetical that we'd have more wins with CJ at this point than we do with Bryce. Bryce doesn't play defense, he doesn't run routes, he doesn't block, and he doesn't call the plays. Along with the occasional rookie mistake that is the reason we are 0-6.

I'll also throw out a hypothetical that CJ Stroud would not have 1600 passing yards with 9 TDs to 1 INT on this team, in this offense through 6 games. You can continue to live in your dream world fantasizing about Stroud in a Panthers uniform but it wouldn't make a difference. He'd have decent stats on a winless team just like Bryce does.

Yeah okay champ, I know this...Cj has one interception and barely any turnovers on the season. Did bryce not throw 2 crucial interceptions in the first GAME that WINNABLE which led to points? Did he not do the same thing in the saints game with a turnover that led to points for the other team in a close defensive game? Did he not do the SAME THING again in a winnable game against the winless vikings that led to points for the other team in a game where are defense SPOTTED HIM POINTS plus he had a opportunity to win the game late but missed theilen open in the endzone?  Listen,  you can keep living in your fantasy world where stroud is still second fiddle and doesn't have franchise changing impact all you like, stroud is the one working with first year head coaches and coordinators, he also has a team with a stacked IR list, he is the one that went to an organization where anybody especially some hypocritical folks on this forum would have said is worse ran the panthers before this season started. Bryce "occasional" rookie mistakes have literally cost us wins, mistakes stroud just isnt making right now on an inexperienced team so spare your whining. Your hypotheticals are just as uselesss, what must people would have a clear confidence in is that the guy who putting up historic numbers and changing culture qualities would have any team in the win column right now good or bad organization because thats the type of impact he has. Panthers wouldnt be winless with stroud....GET OVER IT.

I hope it tells future coaches that we expect them to put a winner on the field.

It tells them not to come here without expecting knee jerk impulsive reactions from an owner that already seems maybe overbearing for lack of a better word.

You are so obsessed with Stroud and blinded by your own emotions lol. Who gives a poo if Stroud has the better rookie year? Who honestly gives a poo if he wins a few more games than Bryce this season and what does that have to do with how they do over the rest of their careers? Bryce has gotten out to a slower start than CJ and you act like the entire story has already been written. It's 7 games in into their rookie years nothing is definitive no matter how many words you want type in caps lock.

There are QBs that have had worse stats than Bryce this year and they have won games. That tells you it's not all on the rookie QB to win games. Every team deals with turnovers at inoppurtune times but only a few teams get scored on as much as we do, does Bryce play defense? That first game and second game of Bryces career where he had nowhere to go with the football in 1 out of 3 drop backs? You want him to go run the routes too? What about a rookie OG giving up over 30 pressures in 2 games (a historic number btw never has been done before). You want Bryce to go out there and pass block? How about the highest paid RB in FA avging under 2 YPC. You want Bryce to play RB?

Christ. Gotta love Panthers fans. You'd think after Cam Newton Panthers fans out of all other NFL Fandoms would understand it takes a team to win football games and be successful in the NFL. Doesn't matter how talented your QB is on an individual level unless you've got a Mahomes type but even then he needs help too.

He will get to finish the season, even at 0-17. JMO.

I don't know man.  If we get to like 0-9, 0-10 with Colts and Bears losses, I think he's done.  This game against the Texans is a big one IMO.

If we lose, we're really looking at a 2-15/3-14 year.  Just wild given the expectations set by the team, coaches, fans, everyone coming into this season.  What a ridiculous season so far.

I am not happy with Frank Reich either!! His biggest problem was not handling over the Offensive Coordinator duties to the Offensive Coordinator who came from the McVay tree which was excited about!! He set the team back by not letting Thomas Brown take over initially due to ego!! I am curious to see if we improve over the next few games like when Wilkes took over!!

He could be one and done but there really isn't a positive in firing him before the end of the season. It's not like he is going to Urban Myers himself.

I get not being happy with Frank but he isn't close to the change worth seeing at this point IMO. Brown is already calling plays and they locked in this year months ago with some injuries to help it along.
