Shawne Merriman

Shawne Merriman might not be resigned this off-season, and might end up a free agent. How would ya'll feel about trying him out? His value decreased substantially since he didn't perform well this season(coming off a serious injury can do that) so he'd likely be easy to sign to a cheap contract.

I don't know how he'd work in our system, but he's a big, fast, athletic linebacker with outstanding work ethic. Also, if Peppers were to leave, Merriman might make a great DE in our 4-3 system.

just food for thought, something to talk about. boring off-season is boring :\

No thanks, washed up.

at 25? he just came off a very bad injury. and like I said before, his value plummeted, he wouldn't cost that much. ESPECIALLY if Peppers leaves, he'd be a good 4-3 DE to experiment with. He's got the body for it.

He hasn't been the same since that surgery, not sure if he will ever get his mojo back.

No. Unless you want a player who thinks he's the poo and won't put in 100% effort.

We already have Peppers for this...Shawne was only good when he was on the roids, after testing positive his play plummeted quickly. If we did get him I doubt Beason would allow him to express his ego as much. Beason might be of a smaller build but hell he was man enough to call out Pep...

    • A lot of people think this draft is weak at QB--I think, after the first five picks of the first round, there are a ton of developmental QBs who could develop into the role--here is the psychology behind it--Bryce becomes the mentor--you can learn as much by teaching others than by being taught.   It also makes him a true leader.  But I think there are a few QB in this draft that might not be ready now, but in 2 years, could be NFL starting QBs--Howard, Rourke, Ewers, Milroe, Dart, etc.  Talk about a cheaper backup and one that could evolve into trade capital--or if Bryce can't find consistency-his replacement.  Round 3 will have some of these qbs--maybe early day 3.
    • hopefully he has the impact on the run game post surgeries that TD had on defense after his surgeries.
