Vick will have many suitors

Who called Jerry Richardson a racist? I just said he doesnt believe in black QBs and his business model says stay away from them at all costs because it'll alienate the fanbase. He believes in black RBs, black LBs, black linemen, black DBs, but not quarterback. He is paranoid about the team's public image, and asking people to annoint a young black man as the future of the franchise would be unholy and send us all to hell.

I am black. I don't agree with everything KT says, and I'm not a Michael Vick fan. That being said, the same way you say he is predisposed to believe in a black person redeeming himself is the same way lots of people here seem predisposed to believing it's bullshit. Saying second chances only plays in the black community is shortsighted. Hell, Mark Mcguire got a standing ovation from the fans the other day. However depending on your perspective you see things differently. Like how Thug is the new socially acceptable "N" word. How white kids say the "N" word almost more than black people(when no black people are around). How the justice system has "failed" if a black person gets off of a crime or how it's "working" if a white person gets off.

Do some people play the race card to much? Yes. Do some people get called racist for basically saying what they think is the truth? Yes. But there are lots of people here and else where hiding there racist attitudes behind football arguments. I mean even after the "HORRIBLE" year Jake has had, most of the people here would still take Jake over him. If Michael Vick was instead, lets say ..Jake Plummer. There wouldn't be this same type of hate/venom going on.

I am not sure I follow many of your examples. If you are saying that both whites and blacks are racist, i would agree. If you think that there are people on this site that are racist, I would agree. And you can surely be racist by telling people what you think is true if you hold racist views. Instead of your example, try this. If people hated Vick because he was black instead of because of what he did, then why isn't Tampa universaly hated. After all they have 3 black quarterbacks on their roster, Josh Johnson. Bryon Leftwich, and Josh Freeman. They play in our division as well. I don't see any of this. And why would people hate the Saints and Brees because he is white? The answer is that the hate is toward Vickas a person not because he is black.

And you misread what I said. Second chances are universally popular. I didn't say it only happened in the black community I said it was a dynamic in the black community just as religion is as well. Does that mean I imply that white people aren't religious or less so than black people? Of course not . I was simply trying to explain why I think Vick is popular in the black culture especially with young blacks.

I wasn't aware that thug was a racist word. I thought it mean a mean vicious person who breaks the law. I thought it applied to all people regardless of color. Must be a generational thing.

And you know this how? Is this another one of your racist views about rich white people who run a business or do you have some insider information we don't know about. For what it is worth I expect that most fans would be very happy if we traded for McNabb. Speaking of that, I wonder how Philly and Washington franchises stay so packed with fans when they both have starting black quarterbacks. Or is this just a southern thing or a Charlotte thing to hate black quarterbacks?

Were Josh Johnson, Byron Leftwich, or Josh Freeman #1 overall draft picks? Do any of them have an overwhelming winning record against our organization? Are any of their salaries over 100 million? Were any apart of the ESPN hype machine that declared them "the most exciting QB in the game" in the early 2000s making them 1 of the most popular football players in the game? Do any have multi million dollar endorsement deals that normally go to white QBs (ex: Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Matt Ryan, etc)? Answer these questions and I think you'll find the answer to your question.

And Michael Vick's been hated in this fanbase long before his dog fighting trial. From herpes, to the water bottle incident, to whatever negative story we could get our hands on, we've longed to make Vick our fanbase's Hitler/Stalin we could all hate together proudly.

Another hypothetical based on opinion. When the Panthers take ACTION on that or any QB who was not born a white man and proclaim him the "future of the franchise" give me a call.

Philly, Washington, Houston, as well as Atlanta are metro areas heavily populated by blacks. ATL & DC have more black people in those cities any others in the country. You think its a coincidence all the football teams in these markets have had multiple black QBs in their history?

Or is this just a southern thing or a Charlotte thing to hate black quarterbacks?

This is the bible belt/nascar south. A white QB will always be preferred when it comes to a highly visible leadership role like quarterback in this market. Thats a glory position, that has an intimate relationship with coaches, players, media, and management. For an organization like the Panthers that is paranoid about its public image and is really only interested in marketing their product to the right wing portion of their fanbase, asking them to believe in a young black man's "intangibles" and potential as an "authority figure" on offense is foreign to them. You said it yourself, young blacks are more prone to and attracted to crime than they are prone to be and are attracted to leadership.

Byron sucks. Josh Johnson does as well, and we had no first round pick to draft Josh Freeman. we haven drafted any QB period since 2005. I can see if we had the opportunity to draft a Vince Young, and passed over him, but that hasn't come about. had that happened Id be suspicious. for that reason i don't buy into all that.

I agree with you that he has been hated in our fanbase. But you incorrectly think it was because he was black. It was because he beat us several times sometimes in a hearbreaking fashion (the levitation feat). The other things like herpes, the water bottle, his low Wonderlic score, failure to learn the WCO in 5 years, etc were opportunities to make fun of a hated rival.

But that has nothing with him being black. But it does explain why we wouldn't want him as a fan base. Add that he was never that good to begin with and he is even worse now, and it should be clear why management doesn't want him. So why keep making it a black white issue??

When Richardson says that the reason he won't hire a black quarterback is because our fanbase won't accept them, give me a call. Until then I won't be paranoid like you.

First of all, while those metros are large black areas, so is Metro Charlotte. Secondly, in each of those cities including Atlanta the majority of fans I have seen in the stands are white not black. If the owners are slanted to their ticket fan base rather than the city as a whole, then they all should have white quarterbacks.

The teams in the bible belt like Nashville, Jacksonville, Atlanta, Tampa all have black starting quarterbacks. In fact the only one who doesn't is Charlotte. I didn't include NO because we all know they are godless, LOL and Miami is clearly not part of the bible belt.

Finally how are so many faces of our franchise black- Beason, Smith, Peppers. If what you said was true, they would all be held by whites or we would downplay the black players and hold up only the white ones.

And for your information, almost all billion dollar companies are paranoid about their image. That is why character is such an issue and why Vick would never be here. It has nothing to do with a black man's intangibles, it has to do with not bringing someone else on the team with glaring issues when we have already had our share in the past. Would we bring in a black quarterback who didn't have issues like a draft pick or someone like McNabb or Garrard? Nothing in our history suggests we wouldn't.
