Goes to Jake Delhomme and I'll agree with this one.

Comeback Player of Year: Jake Delhomme, Panthers

Terry said: "Louisiana native Jake Delhomme also loves jambalaya. When I injured my elbow, I used a mynah bird to try to heal myself. Last year, Jake underwent elbow surgery and a different rehab."

Said Delhomme, "I was extremely excited to be Comeback Player of the Year. I didn't know the award comes with a million dollars cash from Terry."

Terry said, "I didn't deposit your million dollars on Wall Street. Jake your money can be found in my Terry Awards Bank."

Nice for Jake to get some recognition on national TV...even if Terry has a hard on for him because of their shared heritage. Jake deserves it though.

Was listening to Sirius this morning and a couple of the idiot broadcasters who actually have votes said they both voted for Chad Pennington as Comeback Player of the Year.

What the Hell did is "Comeback" from? Just because he was mediocre last year does not constitute a comeback.

Everyone is on the Miami bandwagon....sorry to burst the bubble, but their God Easy schedule was the reason for their turnaround. They are a mediocre team and will get destroyed by the Ravens.

As much as I like Jake, Bryant should get the award.

Hmmmm, let's see . . .

Arrest and suspension

Following a victory over the Seattle Seahawks on November 19, 2006, Bryant was arrested for driving his orange Lamborghini faster than 100 mph on Highway 101. He was charged with suspicion of misdemeanor reckless driving, driving under the influence, and resisting arrest. As a result, Bryant was suspended for four games by the NFL. He sat out the final two games of the 2006 season, and was scheduled to sit out the first two games of the 2007 season.

Reinstatement

On September 17, 2007, Bryant was reinstated by the league, but was not able to sign with a team, partly because of a failed drug test over the summer. In October 2007, he filed a lawsuit against the NFL to try to get them to stop drug testing him since he is not currently a player, and to drop the failed drug test.[1] In December 2007, the case was resolved without the details being released.[2]

Prolly not gonna get a lot of votes from the media for what he came back from.

I wonder what the actual criteria for the AP Comeback Player of the Year is...does it have to be someone who was injured in previous years and comes and plays at a high level..or is it just someone who had been playing sucky for a few years and then has a good one...
