Thoughts on Justin Fields as a backup next season?

Bryce had mental struggles when he got to Alabama, right? And he’s experiencing losing in a big way now that he’s here in Carolina. I know this sounds soft or whatever but I don’t think it helps Bryce to be pushed by another young QB. We want to surround him in the QB room with vets. 
 

Also, why would Fields come here after seeing Frank call plays?

Big facts bro. I was bout to say the same thing. Fields showed way more than Bryce with no talent around him when he got to play. Of course nobody is gonna comprehend that tho for certain reasons.

I have already said they must bring in competition for him next year regardless of how they feel about him. Atleast take a flyer on somebody with high potential later in the draft.....Cameron ward or joe Milton are good options.

Milton would be a wasted pick here. He has a big arm but not much else. I don’t know if we have the staff in place to develop a kid. We would need to bring in a vet.

Fields ain't showed poo in the NFL, except that he's a pretty effective running back that happens to pass on occasion.

For someone griping about all the Burns discussions, this topic is definitely a fresh one. But holy hell dude. You are aware Fields has missed time due to injury this year, right? 

Yeah I'm aware. But this is about next season. He should be healthy by then. Not sure why everyone is raising hell about bring him in as a backup. Seems like low risk high reward.

 

I think he and Bryce would push each other to get better.

If he beats out Bryce that's good for us. It shows us Bryce is not our guy. I would love the move we need answers and we need them by next season. I vouched for Bryce but dude was the #1 pick you don't get 3 years. Either you show improvement next season or we move on.

Too early to give up on Bryce and Dalton is under contract already.  No need to give up assets for Fields. Need to see Bryce the rest of this year and next before you pull the plug.

Never heard anyone talk about Spencer Rattler in my life. To be fair I'm not really good with names. I couldn't tell you most teams backup QBs.

 

Call me a casual but I'm just not good with remembering names.

He can do that with Fields on the roster. Are you fearful he might lose his job to Fields?

Is this much different than our usual method of going after other teams rejects like Darnold?   Always seems to work great.
