Of the Athletes you have met, who was the nicest, and who was the biggest jerk?

i was talking to a manager of a furniture store in charlotte about being a panthers fan. he said he came in on his day off (sunday) and opened the store specifically for smith and his wife. smith's request was that no one would be there to bother him. well the manager brought his boys because he couldn't leave them home alone (i think they were like 8 and 10). when smith saw the boys in the store, he said, "i told you not to bring anyone." and then he walked out.

pretty pooty thing to do when someone opens the store for your convenience out of his goodwill. not a thank you. nothing. just a snide comment and an expeditious exit.

R U Kidding me? Wow, that is pretty lame!

I worked for a plumbing supply company in Charlotte. A couple years ago he was working with a showroom consultant designing his kitchen and bathrooms. I never got a chance to meet him when he was there, I suspect he would have been a jerk.

Yeah as much as I love Smith (he is my favorite athlete) he wasn't very nice when I meet him and I've heard to many negative stories about his attitude to give him the benefit of the doubt.

btw he goes to my parents church. lol nice "christian" attitude there Smitty

See? If you had said this about any other player I would have had trouble believing you. Not with this guy, though.

Nicest: Darryl Strawberry, Peppers, Kris Jenkins, Glen Rice, Bogues. My favorite was probably Hoover. We printed banners for the Panthers before the NFC championship against Philly, that we dropped off at the stadium. He came down the elevator when we were walking out and actually gave a little jog to catch up and talk to us. He was super nice and guaranteed a win against Philly to us when we asked about the game.

Dicks: Alonzo, Deon Sanders, Tommy Lasorda, Eric Lindros, and Kareem Abdul Jabbar.

Never met Darryl, but his son D.J. was a really nice kid too. Unusual for the sire of a professional athlete. Darryl must have raised him well.

Nicest: Dell Curry, Charles Johnson, Matt Geiger, Jeff King, Will Montgomery, James Anderson, Allan Bristow, Alonzo

Jerkiest: Though I haven't met any of them, my friends have and tell me of their douche-ness: Tracy McGrady, David Wesley, MJ, Baron Davis.

I think I remember Vlade Divac being touch-and-go, but I was young and will give him the benefit of the doubt.
