See, Im torn...Albany, NY is my home town and I hate to see them lose the team. I do try to make it whenever Albany comes to Norfolk to play the Admirals... I didnt know the Hurricanes were the 'parent team' for 'Rats, and I really dont have a pro Hockey team. So, its a good thing , I guess.

I agree with Wilmington. Their isn't a huge arena outside of the one on Gordon though...and that is tiny. Plus, the UNCW club hockey team plays there. Schwartz center is too small. Maybe build something? Idk. Too many things needed for the River Rats to come to Wilmington. :nonod:

Thanks god you were talking about hockey...I thought for a minute that that overrated overpriced poohole in SC was moving into Charlotte

I live about 2-3 miles from there. It is overpriced but not a poohole. It's kind of like how olive garden sucks but you could do worse. And it's one the only places that has beef ribs in the pork dominated Carolinas.

I don't know how itty bitty Lake Wylie supports two overated, overpriced steakhouses in T-bones and The River Rat but the must be doing something right. Or maybe it's all the Gastonians with poor taste crossing the border.

This will give Charlotte the opportunity to see a team full of potential NHL stars rather than a team with maybe 1 or two NHL caliber players.

The Checkers owner is the guy that bought the team. I'm not sure if the Checkers are just going away or if they are getting moved elsewhere. I'm pretty sure the River Rats are taking the Checkers name though.

This needs to happen. At any rate, having a Canes affiliate in Charlotte would be a huge step towards marketing the team and the sport in Charlotte and building interest in the NHL club in Raleigh (Which does not market itself well at all outside the triangle area, btw)
