Another Matt Moore Article (Panthers.com)

Of course they haven't posted anything controversial, why would they? They cover the team officially and run the official online shop for the team. The organization isn't controlling anything, and the team website definitely isn't a propaganda machine judiciously choosing what gets run and what doesn't.

I'm sure the editor just keeps it real factual with as few opinions as possible. They probably believe that Moore should be/could be the starter so they are focusing many articles on him. I believe it has very little to do with the organization.

Uh? You do realize that Panthers.com is ran by the Carolina Panthers, right? Everything that is posted on Panthers.com comes from employees of the Carolina Panthers, not some reporter. Therefore, the organization does control the content of the site.

I think everyone here is just looking for some sort of clue to give them comfort in beleiving that Matt Moore will be handed the starting job next year. Unfortunately that will never happen as long as Fox and Jake are still here. No matter how well Moore played it will still be Jakes job to lose as long as Fox is the HC. Sad but true.

Can anyone name me one NFL team that would even consider Jake as the starting QB?

If the competion for the starting QB position is rated fairly in training camp Matt Moore should win easily. If Fox pulls a con job and unfairly starts Jake over Matt, then Fox should be run out of the Carolinas.

My guess is that Matt Moore will ask to be traded from the Panthers if he doesn't start and i feel sure there are several times that would like to have him.

Yes, it's possible and it would be that simple. It's just that IMO, from what I've seen following this team, neither Fox or Hurney give a poo about the focus or what fans think. Neither of their job definitions include manipulating the fan base's perceptions. I wouldn't be surprised if Fox or Hurney have never once talked to the staff writer(s) other than to answer the "softballs" they serve up just to get some basic content.

I'm not claiming to be correct, that's just the impression I get about the way this team operates.

and I'm bored

It's not their job to care about what fans think, at least not when it comes to making decisions. Dispersing info about the team isn't their job. That's up to the site guys.

With that said, it has been mentioned by many - and can be verified by a former employee on here - that team officials (Marty Hurney, Danny Morrison, Charlie Drayton, etc) believe it's very important to keep a certain level of control over their public image, and on information that gets out.

Obviously, they can't fully control what goes in the papers. But on their own site? Absolutely.

If the team had plans to start Delhomme again next season, I can pretty much guarantee you wouldn't be seeing the kinds of things you are now. There'd be a lot more discussion of how good Delhomme has been in the past, a lot of mitigating his bad performances this season, and a general downplaying of how Moore looked at season's end.

I see none of that. Just the opposite.

For anybody doubting that the team site is presenting a particular slant to things, take a look at the three most recent articles to discuss the quarterbacks (pertinent quotes included):

Mason's Minutes: QBs know they must go with the flow

It was hard to ignore the difference in the passing game's production in the final five games after Jake Delhomme fractured a finger on his throwing hand. An 8-to-18 touchdown-to-interception ratio in Weeks 1-12 for Delhomme U-turned into an 8-to-1 ratio for Matt Moore in December and January.

The fans obviously noticed; the roar for Moore during pregame introductions at the season finale was arguably the loudest for anyone on the starting offense.

Position Review: Quarterbacks

For six years, the Panthers went into their offseasons knowing that Jake Delhomme would throw their first passes the next fall. Even after he underwent Tommy John surgery midway through the 2007 campaign or had a six-turnover night in a playoff loss, the Panthers' recent history always pointed to Delhomme being back at work for the next year's season opener.

But he understands that the dynamics of depth chart at quarterback may have changed in the final five weeks of the season, when a broken finger forced him to the sideline, leaving Matt Moore to lead the Panthers to a 4-1 finish while compiling a quarterback rating only exceeded during Weeks 13-17 by San Diego's Philip Rivers.

"I'm a realist about a lot of things," he said.

Sizzling at the Finish: Quarterbacks by the Numbers

On the negative side for Carolina's quarterbacks was Jake Delhomme's touchdown-to-interception ratio; at minus-10 (eight-to-18), it was the worst in the league. The Panthers were 3-7 when their starting quarterback had a negative or even TD/INT ratio and 5-1 when it was positive, once again cementing the connection between turnovers and defeat.

Having got that out of the way, let's turn to an equally resonant number on the positive side.

If Matt Moore's 104.9 quarterback rating as a starter had been accomplished in a quarter or even a game or two, it could easily be brushed off as a fluke. If you give a pro passer enough starts, he'll have one bright day; even Ryan Leaf had a 111.8 rating thanks to a three-touchdown, 311-yard performance in 2000 at Denver.

But Moore's number came over five games, not just one. In Weeks 13-17 this past season, it was only exceeded among quarterbacks who threw at least 100 passes by San Diego's Philip Rivers.

Having read all that, does anyone still think there's no agenda here?

(and to be clear, I have no problem with a team using their site to present a particular viewpoint; why shouldn't they?)

I hate to break it to you but the FO and the coaching staff don't pay any attention to what's being written on the website. If fox had any control over this then there would be no articles written about the qbs unless it was all pro jake. We all want to believe that matt moore will be the starter next year. But you guys are really reaching here
