Some outside perspective on Bryce

If we didn't make the trade, we would have a 1st round pick on our team from this year's draft and our first next year.

The literal definition of giving up 2 firsts for him

If it makes you feel better to say we gave up a first and two 2nd's to move up in the draft to take him, sure, go ahead and say it that way, but it's just semantics at that point, we still gave up 2 firsts to get the pick.

You’re right it is definitely semantics— and I see it both ways.  The way I view it, and from your response- “if we didn’t make the trade we would have a first round pick from this year on our team.”  We do, in the form of Bryce.

Either way, for me, it’s just too small of a sample size.

It's good to hear some positive thoughts from this and Aaron Rodgers. But at the end of the day it's just talk and opinion no different than anyone else. Nobody knows. Not the people in this thread skeptical and certainly not the people making the usual accusations about others rooting against the Panthers. This Texans game needs to be the one that answers some looming questions. I really hope we get that. It's needed. This franchise needs an injection of some kind of life. We'll see.

Texans defense is underrated and they play really hard. Im honestly not expecting that much from bryce. This wont be that game.

The problem isn't that Bryce will be fine or that he'll be a good QB in this league.

It's that we gave up so much that anything less than being an elite top 10 QB in this league, it will never be worth the trade we made.

You can't give up 2 Firsts, 2 Seconds, and DJ Moore for an average NFL QB, that's just not okay.

His ceiling feels like what Jared Goff is right now, someone they were given 2 First round picks to take on, not traded away to get.

Yet the Niners gave more IIRC for Lance and are doing just fine.

It’s not the assets we gave up, it’s the other pieces we’ve accumulated over the past three offseasons and molding of pwrsonnel that are not supporting the guy we drafted.

You count your way, what happened to the 9th pick? We gave it up, did we not?

Did we not also give next year’s #1 to Chicago? Yes, we surely did do that. Add it freaking up. If you get one first out of that stay the hell away from my money.

lol

They were a perineal playoff team with another option already on the team and then drafted a better QB with the last pick in the draft. All this comp says is we should just play Dalton and move on like they did while still being a poorly coached train wreck of a team?

We are also set to give up a #1 in this draft, the 9th pick, a WR worth more than a 1st, 2 seconds and you believe 3 first and a 3rd  for the #3 pick is more than that? (Hint look at where those picks were for the 49ers they traded away Link) We traded more and both look like terrible trades but the 49ers just made it a blip while the Panthers are the leagues laughing stock. On top of all of that we drafted a guy who matches poorly to the team they built or had.

Former Vikings GM and NFL scout Rick Spielman shares his thoughts on Bryce’s game against Miami, says he “has no doubt Bryce will be a very good quarterback in this league.” Bryce analysis starts at about 1:20.

Bonus coverage, gives his take from a GM’s perspective on the Tepper situation “the owner is the boss… you do what you’re told.” Yikes. Starts at 3:50

Rick Spielman has changed his tune now. It's funny to watch him squirm while being made fun of for his glowing pre-draft assessment of Bryce.

A lot of people were wrong. I preferred CJ, but many thought  Bryce was better.

NFL network is blaming the organization for Youngs destruction. They use Darnold and Mayfield as proof this team is a mess and terrible with developing players. Says things are dysfunctional in Carolina and no qb can succeed here.

I agree to an extent. But their point is still valid. This team has been ass at selecting and developing players.

100%  Not disagreeing with that but simply saying young was way behind the 8 ball from the jump and I simply to this day cannot believe some dumb ass huddlers saw it but professional nfl scouts didnt

You will find that most of those scouts are still sticking by him. It's the Panthers that screwed this up. But in the same breath they will say they had to sit him. Then they say the Panthers destroyed a promising young qb.
