Jared Odrick, DT, Penn St. Odrick is another defensive lineman who has been beating his man consistently in one-on-one drills. This draft is deep at defensive tackle, and Odrick is part of the reason, a possible first-round pick.

"Odrick played OK on tape, but he's been practicing much better," said Pat Kirwan, a former league executive, now with NFL.com "I didn't like Odrick that much on tape. Now I like him a lot. He's making me go back and look at the tapes."

Murray State DE Austen Lane can be a real handful on the edge, and he showed he can twist inside with good pad level for a taller guy. He whipped UMass OL Vlad Ducasse, who once again badly struggled at tackle. Lane has great size at 6’6” and 274 pounds and he is having no trouble making the jump from the OVC to running with the big dogs.

On some of the WR

Jeremy Williams of Tulane doesn’t play up to his 6’0” height, but he has the best footwork of the group and looks very comfortable going across the middle. His speed isn’t ideal and he’s not as shifty as a typical slot guy, and he’s not big enough to line up outside as a #1, which puts him in an odd spot. He showed good body control flagging down a couple of poor throws, and he quickly secured a slant before the safety arrived a step later

Just so you can get an idea that you cant trust one mans opnion for scouting, here all the reports for one player, Parrish Cox(OKST DB), all for wednesday. Its all in the eye of the beholder I guess.

"Wednesday Practice Notes: Surprisingly Cox continues to watch his play slide. Wednesday was the worst practice of the week as he gave up a lot of receptions. Seemed to give up on plays occasionally as well" - Draftinsider

"Perrish Cox of Oklahoma State struggled in positional drills, getting beaten easily on a simple slant route one time and losing track of Mississippi State’s Anthony Dixon in the end zone on a rollout. But he shined in 11’s, making a very nice quick read and jumping a route for an INT one time and flashing the closing speed to break up another pass. He seems much more confident in his coverage with safety help, and he is very good at peeking at the QB in those situations. Read that as, “If you draft him you’d better have a very good safety behind him”. - RealGMFootball

So depending on who you listen to on wednesday he either sucked, looked good at times, or he was very impressive. In other words, dont just follow one draft site on information on these guys.

Tulane wideout Jeremy Williams isn’t the most explosive of vertical threats, but the guy is a powerful route runner who showcases a enough speed to track the football and adjust to the throw. Williams caught everything throw his way yesterday

I watched all the practices on NFLNW (they had very limited coverage) and read about 20 of the different online published reports and rankings from the Senior Bowl. Here's my take on the WRs:

In order of talent, U = undrafted

1. Dexter McCluster, Ole Miss

2. Jacoby Ford, Clemson

3. Taylor Price, Ohio

4. Mardy Gilyard, Cinci

5. Andre Roberts, Citadel

6. Riley Cooper, Fla

7. Jeremy Williams, Tulane

U1. Shay Hodge, Ole Miss

U2. Joe Webb, UAB

U3. Dorin Dickerson, Pitt

U4. Danario Alexander, Missouri

Dexter McCluster = human joystick, might be hard for a big fingered coordinator to use. Instant offense? Check. Everydown player? not so much. Mayock compared him to Darren Sproles, and the more I look at him, the more I agree. McCluster looks like a better WR than Sproles to me. Program 10-15 touches a game for this guy including kick returns and he's gonna pay big dividends for someone. Most of the pundits are moving him to the upper mid second round now FWIW.

Jacoby Ford = better football player and more polished receiver than given credit for, not just a track guy. He confidendly said he can run a 4.2 and commented, "It's just running." Gets separation, good hands, was actually best over the middle.

Taylor Price = most complete reciever down there, good size can do it all. He is maybe topped out talent-wise though.

Mardy Gilyard = higher ceiling than Price, inconsistent, drops, will take more time to develop

Andre Roberts = big legged fella like Smitty only bigger. Suprisingly polished from such a small school.

Riley Cooper = the guy has proven he can play in big games, looks the part, just changed his priorities to play football instead of baseball. I wonder how long it will last without The Golden Calf of Bristol in his ear. Inconsistent, drops.

Jeremy Williams - good talent, raw, needs work in all phases.

^kind of a mishmashed eyeball average of what I read and saw. Keep in mind it's just an evaluation of scout influenced practice. It looked like Mccluster, Ford, Price and Roberts could contribute right away. The others, not so much.

Pep is 30, even if he stays we still could use another DE to develop. Murray is that big athletic DE like Pep (Not saying he will be that good but they are both extremely good athletes).

You and I tend to differ on this issue it seems. I want to be loaded all across the lines where you tend to look at it as if you have quality starters there we need starters elsewhere. Neither of us are wrong seeing as teams have had success doing both.

I just firmly believe if your going to run the Tampa 2 your dline has to outstanding in order to be a top D. I think his talent is well worth a 3rd even to us if Pep is here.
