Is it possible to play any dirtier than the saints defense just played?

it wasn't clearly trapped against the ground. you couldn't even see the ground/ball with fox's shots.

again, if thomas didn't make that 1st down the vikings players on the field would have protested like crazy. we see it every sunday. but they didn't, they had a defeated look.

Look I'm not gonna argue that yall shouldnt have won the game. Hell I mean 6 turnovers! The Lions could have won that one. (well maybe not)

The shots I saw on FOX showed the ball on the ground and his hand was not under it. The Thomas play was close so I'm not going to argue that anymore.

ehhh, even though I hate the Saints, and laugh that they only scored 31 points after getting like 5 turnovers, their defense did what they had to do to win the game. It was just really physical football, the kind of football you don't see anymore because of the pussification of the sport. Were some of their hits borderline? yes, but this is FOOTBALL, not basketball. It's supposed to be rough.

With that said, I still hate Greg Williams and think he's a slimy piece of poo for his comments on Steve Smith earlier this season.

also something to note: if that was Tom Brady taking snaps for the Vikings, I can GUARANTEE you that the Saints would have racked up about 300 yards in roughing the passer penalties :P

You may or may not like it but it's a totally legit football strategy to knock the QB down - especially when the QB is 40. The only person that can do anything about that is the refs and they didn't flag most of those hits, so they were legal.

Despite all those shots on Farve, the Vikings had plenty of opportunities to win this game and they blew it... fumbles, 12 men in the huddle, etc, etc...

If I'm coaching a team and the only thing standing between me and the SB is a 40 year old QB, you best bet he's gonna spend most of the game on his ass... even if I have to take a couple of penalties.

It will be very interesting to see what happens if they try this with Peyton Manning, refs may go out of they're way to protect Manning in the SB.

Exactly.

Amazes me that I am reading on here that the Saints got lucky on turnovers, hits on the QB, etc. I swear I don't think some on here have even touched a football much less strapped on the pads.

if you believe there is an asterisk quit following the nfl and get off of the board.

lol....saints fan on a panthers fan board scolding a panthers fan for not giving the saints proper respect and even telling him to stay off the PANTHERS board.

when a saints fan can't figure out that this isn't a saints board but a panthers (ie: not fans of saints board) there is a problem.

The only luck the Saints had last night was Favre's numbskull move of throwing across the field instead of running and sliding on that last INT. You should have lost, you know you should have lost, and Manning will not make a mistake like that.

Everytime I see DBIG or SaintJ, I wonder the same thing myself. For crying out loud go to a damn Saint's forum and get lost. Nobody here is interested in hearing the opinion of a cocky Saint's fan. The fact is the Saints just happen to have a descent season without blowing it or sucking ass like they always do. Big deal, nobody here cares anyways. Just GO AWAY for the sake of everyone here.

I thought a lot of the hits were borderline. They decided than rather get their hands up into his passing lane to attempt to bat the pass, that they would just follow through into him. It's borderline, because you know that they are intentionally hitting him to rattle him, but as the refs did not call them, then they are legit.

The only two hits which should have been called were the McCray ones. The hit on the run play and the dive at the legs. You simply are not allowed to do either of those things. One got flagged, the other which was at a more critical time, did not.

I really do wish the Saints fans would not congregate here, it actually stops people from having objective discussions about the playoffs. We have been able to chat and discuss every other team who made the playoffs without being bombarded, yet the Saints fans are here on gameday. That is a head scratcher.

    • I'd give it a C mainly because of Brooks.  If we just didn't have a 2nd I'd argue B to B+ tbh. Brooks was a bad gamble, tho one that could still pay off long term. Yes XL only has 400 yards but... Look who is throwing him the ball. And I think he isn't a "true #1" but he's been able to consistently get open. Hands definitely need to be cleaned up.  But he should end the year with 500-600 yards. Like you said - Sanders looks great.  Get him a better QB / more time with a QB and I think he's gonna impress. We added a couple rotational players on D that have both made plays and show promise for the future from later rounds. So I'd say, Brooks really hurts this drafts grade. It'll be interesting to see how it progresses over the next 3 years. I've overall really liked Morgan's FA acquisitions, so...
    • Oh he would absolutely flourish. It’s the panthers way. It’s no different with coaches. Sometimes they reach their expiration date, go somewhere else, and find new success.  Similarly to Burns, how long to wait for the light to finally turn on?  Market forces will demand a salary that the panthers can not responsibly match. Sliding him to guard will fit his skill set better, but he has played LT for 3 years. He will receive offers from other teams wanting to pay him LT money.  At guard, he won’t start with what they have paid Hunt and Lewis. Center then?? Dunno. Maybe? He will become a backup by default once they draft their stud LT. I doubt Dan just stands pat. That’s not his MO.  So where does this put him? Can you match what other teams will offer for a backup LT/guard? Do you dish out franchise LT $ on a guy who still needs significant improvement in pass protection. This team will be DOA in the playoffs with the very first team who has a formidable speed rusher. What if he has hit his ceiling in pass protection already and they sign him long term? It’s a big gamble either way.
    • We're in a great position to see just how big of a misstep it would be, having made so many ourselves
