I don't see why everyone is complaining. Vikings had everything in their favor. THEY got to choose the coin toss and failed there. Then their defense was plenty capable of stopping New Orleans from getting down the field. They could have also blocked the kick. It is their own fault they lost, even if the winner was in our division.

They did not "fail" on the coin toss. It is a 50-50 chance at luck.

The team that gets the opening KO merely needs to move the ball about 40 yards and kick a FG.

The team that loses the toss has to have their defense stop the opposing team's offense...then drive the ball 40 50 yards...then kick a FG.

The team winning the toss has a clear advantage....even if the stats don't prove that out.

shootout, first kicker to miss loses

My comment on that is that I am not sure what to do if the first OT ends in a tie. I like the 10 minute OT. However, there has to be something in place if that one ends in a tie.

I threw the FG kicking out there as more of a joke.

I hate the College OT and I hate the NFL OT when the game ends with a FG and the team only gets 1 possession. I think the first team to score a TD should win.

I agree. It will be unlikely that they would change to the college system as they aren't making extra cash for the extra playing time (both the nfl and the players). So, this to me is the best compromise.

"First team to put the ball in the endzone wins."

Ive been thinking for some time that Id like to see a system like this.

Reg season - 15:00 on the game clock

Post season - no game clock

All possessions begin on the teams own 20 yard line.

No punting/field goals

Play until the first team scores - provided both teams have a possession.

In the case where the team that wins the coin flip fails to score on their opening drive the first points scored end the game.

In the case where the team that wins the coin flip scores on their opening possession they attempt a 2 pt conversion(remember no kicking) and then the other team takes possession on their 20. If the fail to make they line to gain the game ends. If they score and tie the game the other team gets possession and we start over.

This actually isn't that bad of an idea. Although I still think you should be able to kick extra points at least. I mean driving 80 yards and scoring a TD doesn't happen that often, so kicking extra points won't prolong the game. But I like the idea overall ... giving every team at least one possession on offense and defense, but forcing them to drive the length of the field and score a TD. Send a letter to Mr. Goddell and see if you can get through him.

I've always thought something similar to this. I just think every team should touch the ball atleast once.

If the team who goes on offense first punts or turn the ball over, then the first team to score wins.

If they kick a field goal they will then kick the ball off to the other team who has a chance to tie or win.

If both teams score touchdowns then you start the process over.
